Taking gold bars and sovereign coins out of the country

No because I haven't told anyone that knows were I live. Plus when I purchased it, I lived at a different address. These days you now have registered your address etc.

So, you're confirming you have tens of thousands of pounds worth of untraceable gold stored at your residential address?

Do you not see this as a bit risky?

They have a wealth tax, the UK will be introducing one, I think before the end of this governments term. The UK wealth tax will be more intrusive as they know how to more than any other country, they are very good at it.

The UK is in it up to its neck, so much debt has been kept off the books. They will clamp down and take what they will be able too.

There is a massive transfer of wealth happening from workers to government to wealthy.

There's going to be a massive opportunity over the next 20 years. Transfer of boomer wealth to their heirs. Government can't miss this opportunity.

I have always said ONS can't be trusted any longer.

Yea and what will happen is more cash moving around off the books.

I have never felt the need to have gold and my wealth is mainly in ISA funds which are non taxable in my lifetime and my daughter will pay IHT on our estate but should I care, I won't be here. If I did want to downsize to mainland Europe for any reason, I am sure my money would be transferable and quite welcome.

As you can tell from this thread, gold is a pain in the butt to deal with. Mainly for doomsayers and of course people who knows better...

the stock market mercs it returns

True wealth is built in pension funds, where it's tax free investing... ISAs are great for funds before retirement.

One thing gold holders never mention... when the **** does hit the fan, who will have the cash to buy the gold of them? just others holding gold themselves.

Yep. If global warming/mass immigration/nuclear war (or a combination of all the above) ruins everything here, gold isn't that high on the shopping list. It's a good time asset imo

gold didn't figure in the dystopian Mad max films just oil and guns ...but, maybe useful for making bullets if you run out of uranium.

Indeed. If we are talking about actual societal collapse, then bartering for items with practical value seems more likely than giving up precious resources for little gold bars.

Also: "When the Last Tree Is Cut Down, the Last Fish Eaten, and the Last Stream Poisoned, You Will Realize That You Cannot Eat Money".

don't forget that you will have to carry them bricks around... with a way of cutting them to the amount that you agreed to barter for, some scales to ensure that it's the right amount, a gold testing kit and of course all the paper work...

There's more of a chance of something using your own gold bar to knock you out so that they can run of with your toliet paper.

I been buying these small bars since 2006. 10 gram to 20 gram cost between £280 to £800, now worth £850 to £1500. All still sealed in their original packaging.

Genuinely interested, let's see some pictures.

C'mon @Tram, post some pictures. The images on the various websites give no indication of the actual size of these things and I'm really keen to see.
