LG 5120x2160 Ultrawides

Awesome stuff, nice to hear that the productivity stuff hasn’t been an obstacle. That’s gonna be a reality for me, too. Glad you’re enjoying it. Must be a decent uplift.
It’s an excellent uplift from my dell 38, still not played games on it. I’ve done the usual oled things of hiding taskbars and hidden desktop icons. I’ve also used Badass’ settings and the screen is setup in a more “restful” viewing setting for my eyes. The lack of kvm is a shame, so I do need to sort something out on that front as the MacBook Pro is connected via usb c and that is fine for the keyboard and mouse if they are connected to the screen directly, but no good for my desktop pc, so I’m having to connect/unconnect a bit.

Didnt even know this monitor existed until 3 days ago and now I need it in my life even though I love my Alienware AW3821DW which I plumped for over 2 years ago for the larger 1600 vertical res. I've been hankering for an OLED UW since seeing one in person but every one I've looked at are 1440 and that wasn't a trade off I wanted to make.

Yeah I went from 3840x1600 to 5120x1440 for the sake of OLED (and the width) but having less than 1600 really has been a bugbear. 5k/2k is more than I want really, but at least it’s a bit more future proof.

I’m told more stock end of May, so fingers crossed for that.

Hi mate, have you set up a kvm and if so, what did you got for?. Any further update on the screen

Just got a stock alert and can see it’s back in. Not sure if it was in before as I found one elsewhere - can confirm it’s absolutely lovely tho, including (especially) for productivity. It’s just a lot of screen. I was worried about the curve, but it doesn’t take long to accept.

It is hard to drive though, even with a 5090. Old games tho… bliss. They’re the decent ones anyway.

Still cannot get hold of it anywhere. Ended up replacing a twitchy AW3423DW with the 3425 in the meantime, which is hardly in the same space, but very frustrating seeing the LG freely available in the US (even post discount), and yet, the practicality of putting one on a boat to Ireland seems beyond anyone's capability.

Dang. It costs loads and people still can’t get enough of it. It is quite nice.

I signed up for a stock alert and actually got one yesterday, so would recommend doing that.

Surely in Ireland you can buy one from anywhere in Europe and not have to worry about VAT and duty on import though right?

Not as easy as it would appear unfortunately. VAT and Duty not an issue, as long as VAT is taken correctly at source anyway, as there is no duty involved in computer components. UK stores such as OCUK already accommodate VAT collection for example, so if it was as simple as ordering from anywhere in the EU or UK that'd be great.

But, there appears to be so many issues from a logistical POV, it just hasn't happened. A French store Ive used in the past which had it up for preorder before LG direct - won't ship other than to certain landlocked countries. LG EU territories only deliver to same territories. LG UK and Ireland are handled under the same umbrella - but they only deliver to UK addresses.

The jungle crowd are funny. One UK order coming up on two months old hasn't budged with any stock, another in Germany for the past month hasn't moved and floats between being orderable, claiming to have single digit stock to hand and time frames of 3-7 months at random periods

Have left those orders in place, but the only other options are those that have 4 week lead aheads - that never seem to update, so I'd not be too confident of them being able to deliver. There certainly does seem to be an inventory issue on this side of the Atlantic relatively speaking, but its strange to think in this day and age, that transportation logistics could also be a factor.

Sounds as if LG have sent everything they've got to the US, to the determent of everywhere else.

They were probably trying to beat Trumps' tariffs when they were original supposed to kick in.

It's so unbelievably frustrating being into tech that's expensive yet you can't actually chuffing buy it. I nearly bit the bullet and ordered from jungle.de but decided against it.

Where did you get a stock alert from? I signed up on LG website but have heard nothing

Signed up and for an email from LG on their main page, so I posted here pretty much right away. Had not got one before despite having signed up though and noticed them come in stock and go out again, usually on Thursday at mid-day. But this time it was late on a Monday.

This is possibly the only monitor worth upgrading my AW3423DW for - but the pricepoint and lack of availability... jesus..

I'm upgrading from a AW3821DW and have flip flopped in decision between the superwide Samsung G9 (model escapes me) and this. The continued lack of stock while seeing post after post of people 'ascending' though is pushing me to the other one...
