LG 5120x2160 Ultrawides

Quite impressed with it so far I have to say, though have had somewhat limited time with it overall due to commitments, plus the nice weather !
Was fearing the worst as it took a near 3 week delivery route around Europe before arriving in Ireland.
Everything appeared OK though, which is a godsend, as I would be dreading any return shenanigans.

Proper 'verticality' to the immersion for lack of a better word compared to the previous ultrawide options, and the curve is a complete non-issue for me personally. I was orginally sceptical of adjusting to curved screens in the past, but was never a problem over the last couple screens. The more 'severe' curve of this was another hurdle, but passes it with flying colours. Yes, if you're watching someone else seated and off to the side, it looks a little odd, but for the primary user it's just right. So much so, that I'd struggle to see how a flat or near-flat experience could be as comfortable - the GX990, if it ever appears, could be a interesting test piece in that regard.

Coming after an AW3423DW, and then subsequently, a month or so's usage of the AW3425DW, it feels like a proper step-up. Yes, it needs some horsepower to get the best use of it, plus there's always some room for improvement with the tech in general (general brightness in less than helpful lighting environments for example) but it's an impressive springboard for future revisions, but a damn fine PC gaming screen right now.

This is good to know. Also coming from 34dw.

Had the chance to use one of these and it's a hard pass, the pixel density or whatever it's called was terrible. I thought it would be better than my C2 but no, text was the worst part and I tried using the clear type stuff that I used on the AW one I had before.
Saved me a load of money at least and made me appreciate the C2 even more.

I don't understand how this is possible when the 45GX950A has 125 PPI versus 106 on the C2?

Just got an email saying delivery delayed until 21st July now - anyone else?
This date has been updated on the website, so this is likely everyone.

The 45GX950A is the first 45" UWS at the higher resolution - my guess is Noxia was looking at a previous generation 45" UWS with the lower 3440x1440 resulution that have been critisised for their pixel density and their ability to display text.

Nor do I, and yet. Makes me wonder if its down to the short time I had it for because I am a glossy user and fan and don't like matte coatings. In the same way it took a while to get used to a flat screen after using curved as it looked like it was bending outwards (convex?).
If it was flat and glossy I'd be tempted but the curve felt too much for normal use, think I felt the same with the alienware but not sure how curve compares.

It was definitely the latest model but yes it wasn't awful like the Alienware was to me. Probably made it sound a bit dramatic there, and should stress it wasn't really a fair test as I didn't go over specifically to see it, came up in conversation. I think it's more to do with I'd have to be blown away by something to change :) Plus my GPU would be stretched more at that res! Clearly I hadn't read the spec properly either as I wouldn't consider a matte coated monitor from the outset, but we all have different preferences etc.

Out of interest what gpu are you running?

5090

On the productivity front, again, a fairly limited timeframe so far, it appears to be fine, certainly had no real issues even with scaling set to 100% from the default 125%. Found the text readability better than the Alienwares certainly, but I'm not overly convinced about the suitability of OLED for pure productivity to begin with so it'd very much depend on the balance of work and play. It is a gaming monitor after all, so its no surprise that's where its strength lies IMO.

Anyone had any more updates on their orders? I have a delivery for 23rd but not much more in terms of updates from LG or anything. LG order tracking still showing at order placed stage.

I cancelled mine for now - couldn't justify the outlay of that and a 5090 even with man maths. Will revisit no doubt..

Let me know when yours arrives and how it is.

I'll probably do gpu first then monitor later on.

Fair enough mate, im the other way for now, got a 5070ti which im hoping will do me fine with the magic frames. Should be here Wednesday so will share pics etc then

Back from a weeks holiday and it looks like this monitor isn't in stock anywhere at the moment, its now also on pre-order at OcUK with no ETA.

This will give me some time to put together the new high performance rig I'll need to drive it.

My order is still stuck on first step and now courier has changed delivery date to Thursday.

LG live chat is a minefield can't even get through to anyone to understand what's going on.

Any updates from anyone else who placed an order?
