*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

The Pro Controller apparently does have more nuanced and varied haptic feedback, and impressions from folk who've tried it do say it feels better.

The D-Pad on the Switch 1 Controller wasn't great but I've heard it's improved on the 2 from those who have tried it - hope so, as I've ordered Street Fighter 6 too!

Great, if true. But Nintendo themselves haven't advertised this ... the controller is just listed as having HD Rumble 2 but there hasn't been any fanfare to explain its capabilities. They have, however, highlighted the "c" button and the rear mappable GR/GL paddles.

I have little to no expectation that Amazon will deliver this on release, but we will see. Still states 7th for delivery, as it has done since the pre-orders went live.

I imagine it's just placeholder and it will sort itself out but then again, never had a successful preorder with Amazon personally.

I read this morning that someone has taken an early delivery of Switch 2 already.

It can’t be used straight out of the box, and required an online update to be ‘activated’. Assuming this update won’t be available until 5th June.

I hope no one is buying a Switch 2 to keep it in a sealed box for 20+ years. Who knows if you’d ever be able to activate it once the consoles best days are behind it?!

I thought it was out two weeks after I returned to work (next Monday). Didn't realise next is launch week.
Decided to keep my pre-order, I'm going to get one this year anyway so doesn't matter if it sits in a case.

I've got Odyssey to play through again (never went full on moon hunting post-game) and BOTW on order. It bothers me slightly that I'll have different cases lol.

If someone did that then I'd imagine as it was on the OG firmware, that will have been worked around many years before.

Makes you think doesn't it?

We already have that with most phones, now game consoles.

What else is coming in the future you cant use without internet activation? Your internet is down or they shutdown their servers. That's it! They already have your money. Why would they care down the line.

The whole June 7th thing is odd, I ordered from Amazon really early (in fact I think I was probably the first on here with an Amazon order) and it's always shown June 7th yet later orders seem to have shown launch day delivery.

I have also decided I am going to keep the Switch 2 when it arrives. Never owned a Switch, so don't have the back catalogue of games. So far I will have Mario Kart World, and I have bought 2nd hand Pokemon Let's Go and Breath of the Wild which I will then get the upgrade for. Figure this should keep me going a fair while.

What's your opinion of Nintendo Switch Online? As someone who only gets to play in the evenings, and mostly single player or local, is it worth going for? Does it have enough content to offset my lack of games?

I have Switch online and expansion pass, mainly for the cloud save backup facility and the classic console emulators like NES, SNES, Gameboy, N64, Megadrive. Gameboy Advance. The last 3 are only available with the plus expansion pass. On Switch 2 it will also have Gamecube.

Yeah. I'm Amazon as well. I have no idea why the Express card and console say the 7th of June and the controller shows 9th of November :D.

I have it purely for access to cloud saves. At £18 for a year's subscription it's a trivial cost. But it's not like Game Pass or Playstation Extra - you don't get a large library of modern games with it. Instead you get some retro games from NES, SNES, N64 eras with the latter only accessible through the higher sub tier ( expansion pack ). So if you're wanting more games to play, I'm afraid you're going to have buy them outright and Nintendo don't do deep sales ...

Yeah I'd thought they have detailed it more given the all the talk about it in articles like this and this one.

I'm curious about the joysticks too (on both Pro and Joy-Con's), as there's been interesting impressions about how unique they feel.

Well, not long to find out in person how the controller feels. The original Switch Pro controller is very comfortable to use and the battery life is great. I'm hoping the new controller will be at least as good.

I think it's very unlikely that demand will cause any issues getting the day one update. The download will likely be quite small, and I think they host/deliver data through AWS (Amazon Web Services) these days which handles demand very easily.

If there are any issues with the online stuff, I feel it'll more likely be with things like matchmaking in Mario Kart.

Yeah I used the og Pro Controller almost exclusively on Switch as I'm not much of a handheld gamer, often used it on PC too, liked it a lot!

Same it’s a great controller and there is nothing wrong with it even after 8 years. Can’t say the same about the Nintendo Joycons or my Sony controllers over the same time period.
