Harry Potter HBO TV series

To be fair looks like she could play Hermione well - but I wish we could move on from this whole race (or gender, etc.) swapping characters, etc. because someone feels the need for it rather than it adding anything, and often detracting from, the show. I'm still a long way from convinced when it comes to Snape in this regard the actor is going to have to do one hell of a job to not make me want to slap whoever was responsible for that decision around the head.

I can't really tell the exact race from the picture, but to be fair she has bushy hair and big front teeth. I kinda missed the whole big teeth thing and subsequent magical shrinking in the 4th book from the film storylines.

Snape is still a ridiculous casting choice, but I think I could warm to the Hermione one.

I honestly don't think I'd want to be any of the kids involved in this show, I actually feel bad for them and hope they don't get negatively effected.

On one hand you have the people who are going to be mad at the choice for characters like Hermione, on the other you have the Rowling hate brigade that regularly go off over her views. Not that the latter had much effect on the game from a couple of years back, still I feel there's going to be a lot of negativity on top of some big shoes to fill.

The Rowling hate mob are utter lunatics.

they will be along shortly i'm sure.

good to see they picked an actress for hermione that has the correct teeth! ron i am dissappointed to see he too looks short, rather than the tall skinny type like in hte books

The kids seem ok. Make a great show, that's not woke and preachy and I'll be happy, it's not a big IP for me, but for people who grew up with the books it defiinitely is. So fingers crossed it's not another DEI-aster.

:D

Hermione casting ehhh...fine I guess, it's not a Snape situation at least.
The other 2 spot on.

I just really hope we don't get the message peppered throughout the series like we do nowadays.

In all fairness, whoever they cast as Snape has big boots to fill from Alan Rickman's portrayal... He was immense in that role (as he is in most of his roles)

As long as the actings good and the stories well written i don't care who the actors are as long as their not annoying or have an annoying voice.

They ain't going to be able to use the mudblood line now.

Edit We'll they ain't Rrofft. They're not going to let a little brown girl (Spanish or whatever) be called that on TV. Although a quick search brings up a Matilda performance she's been in also a few years back which apparently was great.

In reflection, I think having a clearly different Snape isn't a bad thing as Snape is so iconic and probably who we'd compare the most from the films. Totally different helps reduce that happening I feel

Emma Watson was a poor choice (although she probably did help to sell the movies) as she was too hot for the role.

I wonder if this time we will have newspapers counting down until the actress turns 16

Hermione looks a bit like the dude who played Freddy Mercury.

They interviewed a ton of kids so you'd hope the 3 they picked are excellent actors, although that seems to be less of a requirement these days.
