NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

hey guys,

having an issue with the 5080. I have the latest drivers installed etc... but some games are playing bad, really bad...playing sniper elite : resistance and Six Days In Felluja was like a stuttering slideshow, yet I can play Cyberpunk, CS, Atomfall no problems??

is there anything I can try in settings? I haven't messed about with anything apart from in game Video settings, all the usual jazz.

To add though, I do have an undervolt on the GPU..

Call me crazy but for testing purposes have you tried without the undervolt? Also check your clock speeds look right in MSI afterburner and they are not artificially low.

Lolololol

undervolting on 5090 is a bit on shaky ground currently, the voltage often curve acts erratically (like the curve y= tanx with discontinuities), took me an hour or so to set it right, dunno if the latest drivers fixed that

I can see financial report of Nvidia arrived - gaming revenue 42% up. Clearly their gaming GPUs are still way too cheap, as Nvidia already promised even higher revenue in the future to shareholders. :p

Isn't that just because they released a new GPU generation this year and... erm... didn't release one last year?

I’ve had to tweak my undervolt slightly. Stable in bench testing and high performance games, but not in slightly older games e.g. Doom Eternal. Have gone up to 0.9V and down to 2750mhz, leaving the memory at stock for now. Will see how I get on. That still results in a good 5C (minimum) cooler on the core and a fair power draw reduction (the main aim). We’ll see how it goes.

But OCUK and the internet where saying that AMD was killing Nvidia's 5xxx series. ;)

It's artificial

For many months before RTX5000 launched it was impossible to find an RTX4000 GPU because Nvidia shut down production. This creates artificial excess demand, resulting in higher sales for RTX5000

What are the general thoughts on the 5070? I've seen a few videos and it seems that general consensus is a bit all over the place, good card but a bad price in some reviews and others just stating that it really should have been comfortably better than the 4070Ti.

Friend of mine has got an FE model that he bought a few months ago for a build but isn't going to use now, has offered it to me for under 500 - feels like a fair price?

That could be it and it could be why they did it - to show revenue jump to shareholders, simply just manipulating the report numbers. We'll see over time. Still, they seem to be selling well in either case.

Could be but gaming revenue is 5% of the business or so? Seems like a lot of effort for what has become a small part of the business
