Hi guys. Having a mare.

Just bought the Tuf gaming b650 plus, 9800x3d and Kingston fury 6000 bundle.

Initially the pc booted fine and went into windows. However I noticed the ram was only running at 4800 so I rebooted in bios and changed it to 6000.

After exiting, nothing…..

The only was to bring it back to life is to flashback to the latest bios.

The. Even if I change nothing…… exit and save…. Nothing.

Reflash again, try expo I, again, orange light, nothing.

I’m totally lost and could really do with a hand.

Clearly overclockers did something when they sent it out setup but what?

Really appreciate any help here.

How long are you waiting for it to boot up after enabling EXPO? They can take a very long time on first boot, much longer than DDR4.

How many sticks are in the kit? 2 or 4?

How many sticks are in the kit? 2 or 4? I’ve reduced the speed manually to 4200 and it’s now booted.
It’s now booted by changing it to 4200
This however is not 6000.

Thanks for your help anyway.

Any idea why I can’t use expo?

I’m now scared to go back into the bios and try upping it.

I left it for 20 mins last time btw.

Yikes. Is that 4 sticks?

How many EXPO profiles are available? 1? 2?

Memory is in the slots recommended by the manual? Usually this is (from CPU, left to right) 2 and 4.

Have you got the model number of the memory so that I can check the QVL and google for compatibility issues?

It’s Kingston fury expo beast 2 x 16gig 6000mhz

I can only squeeze 4800 out of them. It’s actually what they show up as in the bios too.

technically 6000mhz ram is considered an overclock, so not guaranteed
the cpu memory controller might be a lemon - most 7000 and 9000 ryzen chips will run 6000mhz ram with no issues, but that doesn't mean all will

was the cpu box opened when you got it? (ie did overclockers uk test out and made sure that the cpu could run 6000mhz ram?)
if the cpu box was unopened then you probably got yourself a lemon, in which case i'd rma the cpu and ask for a new one as it was part of the bundle and would assume that the cpu could run 6000mhz ram

It was opened. And ‘tested’. I’ll contact over lockers if I can’t get it to perform.

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

There's multiple different 6000 from Kingston, C30, C36, C40 and they can use different chips, which can cause compatibility issues.

The second part is normal. CPU-Z will show you the model number.

There are 2 expo profiles. Not tried number two.
Is number 2 much different? CPU-Z can show you the profiles.

I'd suggest enabling EXPO and then setting a manual frequency of 5600, before you exit. This should keep the voltages 'n such, but lower the frequency.

how are you setting the 6000mhz?
are you manually changing the ram speed, or are you trying to enable expo?

manually changing the ram speed is the incorrect way to do it, as the voltages are left unchanged.
you need to be using expo to set the ram speed and voltages automatically

Ah ok. I’ll give all this a go tomorrow. For now I have it ‘working’ and can do some racing. Tomorrow I will break it again. I’ll keep you posted, and again, thanks
