Hi all,

I'm to upgrade my cpu from amd 3700x to r9 5900x but im struggling to get the bios to update to the latest.

The ez flash sayings the bios isn't a proper bios

The current bios is 3103.

I've tried installing the cpu with this bios and the system fans start at 100% and there's no image on the display. ( not sure if this is normal I've never swapped a cpu in a board before )

Thanks for your help all.

Can you describe exactly what you're doing? How are you preparing the file and trying to update?

Are you certain that you're downloading the exact version for your model, e.g. there can be I and II variants of a motherboard and WIFI or not WIFI.

Yeah, is normal with unsupported CPU.

Don't have a rog strix but just checked it out...latest bios looks to be Version 3621 from what I can see at the link below.

I downloaded zip file, extracted to folder, then ran BIOSRenamer.exe which reneamed .cap file to RSB550FG.CAP from ROG-STRIX-B550-F-GAMING-ASUS-33621.CAP.

Instructions in BIOSRenamer.exe state to copy RSB550FG.CAP to root of USB drive.

Then I assume it would be like my msi in needing to go to relevant firmware update page in bios and install RSB550FG.CAP, followed by redoing any bios settings you've done etc.

I'd also be doing this while the 3700x is in the system not the 5900x.... it will be supported on both bios options.

Sounds like you're following the correct steps as per my experience with ASUS boards.
Is the USB stick formatted to FAT32? That can be an issue for some boards.
