Hey all,

Just a quick sense check - got a 9950x that I'm looking to fit on a PC and I happen to have a Phantom Spirit 120 that I never installed on a previous build. The box says it's for the Ryzen 7000 series, would this work with the 9950x?

I've lost track of all the various upgrades to architectures!

Yes, it'll work, but at full pelt (and stock settings) it is going to be a bit noisy/hot, just because of the top-end power consumption of the 16 core CPU. Manageable if you're happy to tweak.

Ah super, any recommended fans for this GPU these days? Prefer air over AIO generally.

It is not worth buying something else when you have a phantom spirit sitting in a box. The thermalrights are hard to beat and whatever adjustments you need to make with the phantom spirit (for quality of life), you'll almost certainly have to copy them with another air cooler.

Only update from that
Is the thermalright pretor really in air coolers
Same budget price with premium performance
Worth buying the pretor if already have the phantom spirit?
Perhaps not
But it's not a large amount of money
And it may shave a few degrees off
It's the new king of air coolers for now

I've assembled and it appears to be working great!! I can upgrade easily if I decide I need to, but doesn't appear to be noisy under load!

Thanks for the advice!

Yeah, Thermalright have best cooler out right now. Even at 3 to 4 times more money you won't get much if any better product.
