*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

At the end of the day, most people's main criticism of the Switch was that it didn't have enough grunt, but everything else worked.

So a more powerful one of those, is all they really needed to achieve
The only thing I would have like to have seen would have been analogue triggers and OLED from day one, but apart from that I'm pretty happy with what they've done with it. My biggest problem with the Switch 1 was that it far too underpowered even for Nintendo's own first party games. I can finally play them the way they should be played, at a decent frame rate without dropping frames (hopefully), at a higher resolution with HDR on with an even larger screen.

The older I get the more I realised that I love the anticipation of the item's arrival than the actual use of the item itself. Over the past 2 years I have bought over half a dozen retro consoles, each time I look forward to its arrival and setting it up but once it is set up, I hardly played them. Yet I still watch reviews and release of new models.

I also found I get the same kind of endorphin rush of looking forward to something seemingly trivial like a new set of keycaps to a new Macbook Air that I got the other day. Actually, the most exciting thing I have on pre-order right now is a Split Alice keyboard lol.

As for pre-ordering a console, I never have done. Normally just rock up on launch day or any day i am in town and bought in person, never tried very hard to get them.

Exactly the same here. I appreciate the build up and the arrival more than actually getting the use out of anything itself.

It's been the same for me with the Xbox Series X, PS5, Steam Deck and tons of other junk I've bought over the years. I should really learn something from this, but I guess I just like having new toys.

Not had a console since Dreamcast. I still remember buying the original Mario Kart on the SNES in 1992, £30 I think it was. Decided to get the Switch 2 with MKW Not played any of the previous ones since owning a SNES lol. PC gamer for 30 years but being priced out of it now. Console peasant from now on.

Okay I looked at some videos of that tour game. And it looks worth 8 quid for the mini games and such. Shame they didn’t go whole hog and make a Astro bot esque game.

Assuming my Switch gets dispatched tomorrow I'll factory reset my OLED Switch and set up my Raspberry Pi for PiHole as I have been meaning to do it for ages. Just been avoiding it as it mean mucking around with HDMI ports on my TV.

My Amazon order still hasn’t changed (shows Saturday) if it’s not changed by tomorrow morning it’s not coming Thursday.

Has anyone’s changed?

On a more positive note new Mario Kart footage

Mine went from Saturday to Friday this morning.

I've had stuff preordered from them before though where it's said eg. 'arriving Saturday' and it's just despatched on the Weds night anyway with no prior changes so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I feel people may feel a bit disappointed by Mario Karts "Open World". Since the first previews, people have been making out it's like Forza horizon but with mario and to me I felt it was pretty clearly not that. It's a separate Free roam mode which sounds really empty judging by today's previews.

Im looking forward to the actual racing and the new to the series knock out mode, but just feel some gamers expectations have been set a bit high for what the free roam mode actually is. That could be down to Nintendo for not really making it clear etc. wil still score 8/10 reviews though I imagine
