*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

The older I get the more I realised that I love the anticipation of the item's arrival than the actual use of the item itself. Over the past 2 years I have bought over half a dozen retro consoles, each time I look forward to its arrival and setting it up but once it is set up, I hardly played them. Yet I still watch reviews and release of new models.

I also found I get the same kind of endorphin rush of looking forward to something seemingly trivial like a new set of keycaps to a new Macbook Air that I got the other day. Actually, the most exciting thing I have on pre-order right now is a Split Alice keyboard lol.
I'm glad its not just me then. Its a weird thing. In my younger days I would play and replay a game or console repeatedly, not so much now. I suspect its lack of appreciation as shiny new objects are more obtainable now compared to my youth.

I think it is the idea that there is something to look forward to, perhaps my life is too boring and I am in search of mearning lol. I like having a trip booked in my calendar to look forward to, I like and honestly don't mind pre-ordering that keyboard with a 8 weeks waiting period.

IMHO everything gets more boring with age/experience, hence the excitement of a new product. Followed by the disappointment that its unfulfilling.
I find most genuine enjoyment when I'm applying myself to something new, something challenging and unfamiliar. A new job/skill etc, the joy resulting from achievement, even small lasts longer than any physical item.

I feel people may feel a bit disappointed by Mario Karts "Open World". Since the first previews, people have been making out it's like Forza horizon but with mario and to me I felt it was pretty clearly not that. It's a separate Free roam mode which sounds really empty judging by today's previews.

Im looking forward to the actual racing and the new to the series knock out mode, but just feel some gamers expectations have been set a bit high for what the free roam mode actually is. That could be down to Nintendo for not really making it clear etc. wil still score 8/10 reviews though I imagine

I hope you can switch off the open world and just have a menu interface to get to the races.
I have no interest in driving from race to race

Folks, is Pokemon Z-A in a similar ilk to Scarlet/Violet? I dont get how all these pokemon games differ (like Arceus for example).
I think it's " Legends:" Z/A so would be more like Legends Arceus.

Arceus was a different take on the formula. No gyms etc just collecting Pokémon , but it had a fun gameplay loop. Many prefer it to the more recent traditional takes on Pokémon.

I never touched Scarlet/Violet because of the horrendous performance issues. However it's said to be improved now on S2 so I'll have a go

Mine is ready for collection tomorrow and my backup order has been dispatched.

Will cancel my collection if the order is delivered on time.
