Quite cool, love that Metal MiSTer case.

I've finally joined the Mister world (well I will have in August when it's released) and pre-ordered a multisystem 2.

Are there any guides that people recommend to get them set up optimally?

I have just seen that preorders for Batch 4 of the Mister Pi has now gone live.. Sooo tempted..

That Mister Multisystem2 looks nice tho..
They are really good mate, well worth it. Form factor of the MiSTer 'Pi' is great as well. Sits below a lot of things discretely.

If you do buy one, I can recommend some extra RAM for a bit of future proofing for some cores.

Yeah the Turbo Pack is a fully built bundle in the box for $185 currently. That already has the memory.

The MiSTer Multisystem2 FPGA Digital Console system Also comes with it and at £204 might work out better and honestly i think it looks nicer.

I'd buy another stick of 128mb to install, worth it for Saturn and Jaguar cores (no doubt will see some benefits else where with better arcade and more console cores being developed).

If anyone got a MiSTER Pi with an NFC reader, there’s now a case for it…

I’m just anxiously awaiting my founders edition translucent blue SuperStation to arrive as it’s now almost end of Q3!

Did anyone else pre-order one in the end?

Same, same colour as well. There has been some decent posts on progress recently.

I had a Mister Pi delivered last week, I previously purchased a QMTech a few months back but returned it as I didn't feel it worked for me as I discussed in this thread.

In the interim I'd been watching and reading up a lot more about Mister and wanted to give it a another try now I'm better informed, in particular I wanted to try out stuff like Amiga Vision.

Mister Pi was available and in stock, I ordered on 1st September and was delivered 11th September which was pretty quick.

My overall experience has been very positive but there were a few issues I wanted to call out.

Issue 1. Warped bottom USB hub
The USB hub board appears to be somewhat bent, it's not entirely flat so USB ports 3 and 6 (the middle ones) are difficult to use and inserting a device is more problematic than it should be.

Issue 2. Warped bottom case (No base stand-offs)
Some of the solder blobs under the USB hub are quite large, the bottom case plate was screwed in tight which was bending the case due to the solder, I've had to loosen the screws quite a lot to reduce the bend and have a flatter base. Really there needs to be some stand-offs between the bottom USB board and the case, I believe the QMTech Mister had this but can't recall for sure.

Issue 3. Buttons not working
I was having trouble getting any of the Reset, OSD or User buttons to work with the plastic extensions which allow these to protrude from the case. On closer inspection the buttons had each been glued down with a little pad which meant there wasn't enough travel to allow the button to press down. I removed the glue pads and the Reset and OSD buttons now work but the User one still doesn't. It appears the plastic button extension is slightly different, probably a slight difference in manufacturing as if I try using it on another button like Reset or OSD it also does not work.

I don't really use any of the physical buttons so not a massive deal but I'll likely look for a better case in the future which I'd assume would come with replacements anyway, the case and USB hub warping issues were disappointing but all is working.

Adjusting to not having save states (for most systems) or rewind is definitely going to take some time.

I actually completed Streets or Rage 2 this afternoon, I've finished it multiple times in the past but first time for a while as couldn't save progress so I had to finish it in the one sitting which won't always be helpful when the kids are around but might make me more selective over what I play and stick with a game instead of jumping around so much.

One thing I only saw recently was TapTo (now known as Zaparoo) which I didn't really see the point of originally, but oh man this looks so cool... for anyone not in the know you can use NFC cards to launch a game.

I know that doesn't sound very impressive but I've seen people print there own vinyl card stickers like below.

People have even created their own little ejectable nfc drives (like an old floppy drive) which really appeals to me and sounds like a fun project.

I can recommend the case from Misterfpga.co.uk, probably a lot better than what has been provided (although it doesn't look as bad as I expected). You could reach out to taki about the usb hub issues?

Will take a look. Thanks.

I did email Retro Remake with essentially the same summary above and received a response from someone called Katherine.

But language seems to be an issue and they advised putting some paper inside the 3d printed buttons and blamed the warping on the screws on top being too tight...

Was hoping for an apology or something but no chance.

I also had an issue using Update All which RR link from their guide but I went and found the proper one and this worked first time.

If it is warped and you get no where with customer services. Try reaching out to Taki directly on X. He may sort it out for you.

My only wish is that there were an Atomic Purple option. It is the choice that always makes me weak xD

Yeah if you can get through to him, he is very busy, he is really helpful! He is a really good guy.
