OcUK RX9060XT Review Thread

Good shout ^^^^ i was thinking how best to respond to that question, +25% is not great but doubling the Vram might sweeten the deal, i also had no idea RT was that much better.

Yeah, see what you can get for your old card...

I had an RTX3060TI - the 8GB hampered it in the end at 1440p. I noticed my mates RX6700XT seem to just have smoother gameplay overall, less texture issues, ability to turn up texture settings,AA,etc.

Seriously considering this ( 16GB version ) to replace my RTX 2070 Super at 1440p - Mainly for FS2020. Would this be a worthy contender without breaking my bank?!

well that went well, well done AMD, shoot yourself in foot yet again

Those 8700K tests are brutal and are also really important for people at this end of the market as a lot are piecemeal upgraders rather than whole system rebuilders. Lots of people who had a 300 or 400 series AM4 motherboard and upgraded to the 5800X3D as a last hurrah for the platform may be looking at this as an upgrade and knowing it won't tank in performance on the PCIe Gen 3 slot because it has 16 lanes is really vital information. Would be good for another video to include the 3 5060 models to see how they do with a gen 3 bus and an 8700K. I know DF did some testing with PCIe 3 mode on their 9800X3D rig and there the 5060Ti 16GB fell behind the 9060XT but I think it would be even better on an actual PCIe 3 test system.

Depends on the game. No issue with forza, doom, cyberpunk or Last of us pt1 at 1440p with my 480

I ran games at 1440p and the RX6700XT was sustaining better FPS,once you started using RT the RTX3060TI performance now is not great. Cyberpunk 2077 got the RT update with the DLC which made RT much heavier. It hits the 8GB framebuffer hard and the RT performance is not sufficient enough to have a good experience IMHO.

Also, what HUB described with texture quality issues - you could notice it in some instances especially side by side with an RX6700XT. Some games do dynamically change this to preserve performance. I tested this both on a 5700X and 7800X3D. The DDR5 system helped a bit IMHO,because the caching into the RAM is better on AM5.

thats the thing, those results with the 9800x3d with best dd5r ram are the best, how many are going to have top tier cpu and ram and buy a new 8gb card in 2025, the 8700k is indeed nasty, why oh why would AMD follow nividia and release garbage like this, beggars belief

Releasing 8GB cards isn't a problem,it's the fact they are £250+ and named the same as the 16GB cards. This can confuse people.

But the Nvidia cards are even worse with an 8X connection,so paging into system RAM is slower.

not really yes 8gb is not ideal but it does not effect how the 16gb model performs which by all reports they have more made and when 8gb stock runs out it will be phased out unless it sell well

I had a 8700K and under all core load it drops down to I think 4.2ghz so to get the best out of it and get rid of potential bottlenecks its best to clock it to 4.8ghz which pretty much all can with half decent cooling. I dont think it'll make the performance in TLOU2 much better but I do hear it can be a CPU intensive game.

The Last of Us 2 as it plays fine on a 12600KF and a rx6600 @ 1080p high as will other faster 8GB cards just not 1440p @ FSR Q - Ultra Preset.

Even with a 9800X3D and 32Gb of 6000 C30 RAM at various points of the video @ 1440p at the Ultra/Epic setting the following games either struggle to maintain 60fps in the 1% lows or they struggle to maintain 60fps average with the 1% dipping below.

Doom the Dark Ages
The Last of Us part 2
Horizon Forbidden West
Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Monster Hunter Wilds
Stalker 2
Clair Obscur
Elder Scrolls

What I'm observing here is these 16GB counter part cards have just the bare minimun performance @ 1440p in some of the newest games and anyone with a system less than a 9800X3D will have a worse experience and may have to start dropping settings to maintain 60fps like the 8GB cards anyway.

Tbh I think it's scummy as the less informed will buy the 8gb , but as above it's the naming scheme along with the crooks in green. They not same tier of card imo. Yes benches out there for less demanding games, but numerous more where frame rate will tank.
Makes them no difference from green team both have have done it.yes nivida more so. But both are using scummy tactics

I had to cut details in FH5 with 3070 @ 1440p, not because the card wasn't fast enough but the frame buffer was overloaded ( even with DLSS quality), it isn't like the reduced settings made the game looking bad, though. AW2 needed both more power and vram. The 8GB becomes a genuine issue and it will only get worse.
