Cost of Living - Shrinkflation is speeding up at an alarming rate

Shock as businesses want to make as much profit as possible

Also surprise when continually raising wages of supermarket staff (who are on or near minimum wage), directly increases food prices contributing to food inflation (and therefore you can see why supermarkets are reluctant to do it)

Even if "the system" was stealing from me (pro tip: it's not), then becoming a criminal myself isn't something that I find acceptable
I mean it is stealing it's just the legal kind because they control legislatures and not the plebs who control nothing.

Its baffling at this point self checkouts havent been EOL'd but also clear they not the sole problem as well.
As long as the cost of stolen goods outweighs the equivalent staffing costs to have a manned tilled, then there is no chance of going back. Self scan tills don't demand a payrise every time "cost of living" or "inflation" is mentioned on the news

Even if I did get the bank to send me a new card every other month where would I use it, I currently don't have a single bank in my town!!

Found another victim of shrinkflation.

Engine oil.

Most oil companies now are producing 4L instead of the 5L for the same price.

Most cars take between 4.5-5.5L so you now have to buy addition 1L bottles to make up the difference

Bought a big bar of Cadburys milk choc, used to be 400g, it seems to have changed to 360g now, and it's more expensive.

Ice cream has skyrocketed as well. I remember being able to get a tub of flake ice cream for around £2 not too long ago. I noticed it was £5.75 the other day

It’s been excellent for losing weight.

It was never £2 at RRP though it way always £4+, only dropping to £2-2.25 when on offer for 2 weeks every other month.

Same with B&J and all those others, £3.50 on offer, 'normal' price is £6+

there's a cocoa harvest problem climate/disease related no ? , at least the price of olive oil is now softening;
cream has also rocketted so if you have genuine ice cream as opposed to likes of c'arte dor, it's increased too.
not sure if that is down to uk draught, so they are eating sileage, but maybe free gear's EU deal will help with imports.

I'd hope so when hot chocolate is like £5 a tub or £3 on offer

instructions are like 4 heaped tea spoons, so a whole tub is probably 10 drinks or something crazy.

Everythings gone down in quality, I used to love pizza the frozen ones all just taste weird now, like they use some weird cheap cheese blend.

if I make me own they still taste great.... most pepperoni is disgusting now too, barely even tastes like pepperoni.

actually when you look at prepared/frozen food most of it is just bland crap now because they cheeped out on ingredients as much as they possibly could, they used to at least be competitive to a lot of average takeaways

I will not buy Cadburys due to its trade links with Russia still operating as strongly as before. Aldi milk chocolate is very good and half the price (in cash and blood).

Same way I view booze.

Started making our own beer/wine/cider, £2 for a bottle of wine equivalent to something you'd spend £8-10 on, and 70p for 500ml cider similar to Weston's vintage? Yes please!

Nope, this is just you trying to justify your behaviour.

While true, I don't think that it necessarily means what they're saying is wrong.

That being said, Hanlon's razor applies, while there's probably some element of intent at higher levels, I've noticed over the past few years that many people don't give a **** about doing a good job (or are just too stupid to do better). They think the bare minimum (or less) is "good enough".

Personally never found home made wine as good as a decent commercial one, especially as I like southern Australian wines i.e. Barossa Valley region which you can't replicate in the UK, on the flip side though a good home made cider IMO is far more satisfying than most commercial ones - similarly commercial orange juice IMO never comes close to a good home made one.
