News still developing around the shooting at an Austrian high school. Nine confirmed dead - 7 students, 1 adults & the gunman (also a student). More wounded, no numbers for the injured that I've seen.

Here's a good idea for kids of all ages, dont bully people, you dont know what its going to do to someone and what they end up doing to themselves or others.

Reports stating its a bullied student thats gone and taken revenge.

He's reported as being 22. There's no-one there he could have been taking revenge on. The bullying could be some kind of twisted motivation but its surely too early to say.

Confirmed a tenth dead, with 30 people in hospital. That is a tremendous scale for this attack, sickening that these acts are carried out on some of the most vulnerable people with their entire lives to live.

Austria has 30 guns per 100 people. For reference that's 1/4 the amount per capita the US boasts, and in England we have 4.6 guns per 100.

I am not sure what you mean by "the mind boggles" comment. Unless he presented attitudes/behaviours that caused concern, and these were raised to the correct authorities, why would anyone remove his legally held guns?

Indeed. Austria has liberal gun laws, and the killer would have had the right to own the weapons that he had.

Its hard to know what to say, news reports say he left a farewell note at his house so I would imagine that includes some sick attempt at justification of why he did what he did

Quick remove everyone's rights and freedoms so we all live in pods and are unable to do anything because there might be a single instance of something happening in 25 years! Remove all the knifes (including butter) and put bollards up in every town centre with cameras all over the place. Actually let's just ban cars, bikes and kinder eggs incase someone eats the plastic egg inside!

This is the problem.

I hate when these things happen, not only just at because of the incident itself, which is obviously awful and I don't want to play it down.

But what usually happens as a result is perfectly law abiding people are punished as a knock on affect.

Is 21 some factor? Do you have an age in mind where it would be ok to own guns whilst living in a city?
