40th birthday

I think the oddest present i had was a cusion with 40 written over it, good sentiment but not something id have sat on the sofa
Oddest present I ever got was a cushion of me and the gf at the time with sequins.
Probably a sign that we would split up, who knows, it went on the sofa for about 2 weeks before going in the cupboard as it was a bit too weird to have about.

We just go out for dinner for birthdays. Birthday person doesn't pay but can pick where we go.

I also treated myself with a trip to NY for my 40th birthday.

Agreed, they dont appear to me falling out of fashion either unfortuantely.

I was purchased a private plate for the car. I have very mixed feelings about them generally.

Makes it very easy to spot a ***please fully star out swearing*** tho

all the new grads on our minimum wage graduate scheme at work have them along with their 20k cars, different world to when I was their age.

Not a 40th, but a 'big' birthday. I got a London Theatre weekend and i took wifey to Venice for hers.

Same as OP, if i want something, i'll buy it and don't need anymore 'tat' gifts. Little things from the kids are nice though.

I remember back many years ago, when a certain family member of mine (well two family members) had joint 40th birthday parties

they had 2 strippers sent to the house party

One was a rolley polley stripogram and the other one was a normal strippergram

What Did you get?

I’m being asked for ideas for mine but they’re all probably unrealistic

40th? Bosch blue sds drill :)

50th I got a nice party, and a no questions permission to build a guitar and amp.

Her 50th she got a dinner, a holiday (pick a spot on the planet etc) and a pampering spar trip.

This makes me laugh. But also sad. :(

I asked for a birthday party as wanted an excuse to gather friends that we don’t get to see often. Was very enjoyable! Also drank plenty of ale which is also a rare occurrence these days.

Oh. The Mrs is going away with some of her friends on a spa holiday for her 40th. I suspect some people that's par for the course though.
