You dump fuel and other contaminants out. The viscosity of the oil is back to where it should be so may feel better. Also oil filter new and unblocked so arguable better oil pressure. Helps variable timing systems etc run properly.

Strangely enough the car did perform a bit better after actually having some fresh oil in it.

I notice after I've changed the oil. It's a small change but the engine is smoother and while the rev range is more subdued, it's less thrashy.
I change the oil annually on both our cars. We don't do a big mileage.

Sounds like an old 320i I had, every 1k miles was about 1L of oil. Had leaky valve stem seals.Just buy a car that burns loads of oil and you never have to worry about changing it, just keep topping it up.
I once had a Sierra that consumed as much super-budget *Motorway 20/50" as it did fuel
An RX-7 fits the bill perfectly.
Only if you drive it like you should! I deleted the OMP on mine and mixed oil into the fuel instead.

I cant say I notice any difference but thats probably because its always got decent oil in it.

It was funny working in the states last week, we got on to talking about oil changes and the reaction when I said that my car had a 20000 mile interval.

Even the reps who clocked up serious miles didn't go beyond 7500 miles between oil changes.

I've just bought a new daily. It had a dealer service done 6k ago according to the stamps but the service indicator came on so I had it done just for piece of mind at a friend's garage.
Most garages don't like you taking your own parts but he knows I don't buy ebay crap so will fit parts I buy including fluids because I buy the manufacturer specified ones.
No noticeable difference IMO
