General Headphone Audio

No contacts at Topping so would just be buying and selling or returning if I wanted to check it out :o

It reads like pretty much the same DAC (ESS) + AMP chips as what you have, but with some output differences. So I suspect comes down to looks, the different outputs, or want that EQ stuff.

And not to add to the hardware addiction, but I will say all 3 of the DAC/AMPs I sold on eBay in the past month all went within 24-hours. It could be I didn't ask enough, but compared to some other stuff I've been clearing out recently; Nintendo Wii/Wii U video games & accessories, I had no problem selling audio stuff. eBay to me seems slow at the moment, which is probably that people just don't have much money, but I didn't have that with my DAC/AMPs.

Yeah, I notice it's the same DAC chipset, I but different amp topology. Their spec doesn't state what Class amplifier they have, but it certainly have a lot more power.

As an aside I find it annoying when it's not laid out clearly; just 7,000mW! I notice iFi state the wattage, voltage ratings at various popular impedance levels; 32, 300, 600 for SE and Bal. Not sure why more can't do that. But I know you should be able to work it out and realistically these amps are waaayyyy more power than you ever need. But if you've got something like a Beyer DT 880 600 ohm (or insert other monstrous headphone here) it seems useful to have that stuff listed.
 
On the product page they state "Tripple stage hybrid amplification architecture" "discrete input and output stage with opamp gain stage" Doesnt really say much I guess but likely class AB based on previous stuff they've released and the fact its using op amps.

I found it yesterday, it is 6400mw at the same ohm as the XA-02 that does 2000mw.

I'm ordering one in black too. I will not be using the parametric EQ as am more interested in what the raw hardware is capable of compared to the X9's AKM chips. not bothered about transparency, more smoothness and warmth on headphones that are by nature considered "bright" or "peaky" which both K11 R2R and X9 control decently. The X9 will remain reference because it has more features.

Ideally, I want a black one but my monitor is silver, my Mac is silver, my dock is silver (no choice). Everything ended up silver and not by choice. The Xduoo's gun metal colour really stands out.

To be honest I was looking more at Geshelli's Labs new Merlin collaboration DAC with APOS to complete the homemade, perspex stack. But more out of curiosity as I just don't need it, although Geshelli products were always a little bit intriguing to me. The Topping DX5 II looks great but there are other things like the Fiio K13 R2R, or K15 that I also want to see what they can do.

phew, it's only gone up by £3....it was £257 when I looked on the store page before, I know it say like £227 or something on the other page.

Part of me wants black but part of me don't mind silver to match everything else...only if the knob is metal.....come on, where are the reviews? But there is a part of me would just get the white, I kinda like the white in this.

Went for white, kinda like how it's not your usual Black or Silver for once.
