Air India Crash

I'm pressing X to doubt the 'jumped out' claims. He'd have had to realise what was happening, somehow open the door? and time his exit perfectly to hit something that would allow him to get up and walk away from the scene relatively unscathed.

He has apparently spoken to the local press from the hospital, but he didn't mention anything about jumping.

Yeah, agreed. See local news report here. No mention of leaping to safety. Just seems to have been very lucky. Crazy.

He says he heard a bang about 30 seconds after take-off? Could that be a clue as to what happened? I guess we'll probably have to wait for the black box to be analysed before we get any clear idea of what might have happened.

Seat 11A is business class at the back, just at the point where the wing leading edge connects to the body. I'd suspect the front spar of the wing goes under and that spot has quite a bit of structural integrity. Being in a business class seat ('capsule' area) it may be that protected him a little more than a normal seat.

In short I don't think he had any ability to move at the point of the accident so I suspect he simply got thrown clear on breakup before the fuel ignited.
11A is Economy towards the front, no? https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Air_India/Air_India_Boeing_787-8.php

It's like a crash at 150-180mph in a tin so if it continued on it's like to have some structural strength, but it's not going to be pretty.

It could be that his section came to a stop, he jumped out the back where the body would have been (assuming it was embedded in buildings).

Well, the Dreamliner’s actually got a carbon composite fuselage, so that might be a factor too.

total flight time was 23 seconds, thats from the previous video

What are the odds of both engines failing if it wasn't a massive bird strike? With all the safety and redundancy features on aircraft, that seems very unlikely.
Extremely low odds is the answer. I'm sure it'll all come out in the investigation though, dual failure so soon after takeoff is the worst thing possible really. Still seems the most unlikely option though.

Very slim. As I said earlier:

Fuel contamination, catastrophic elec/software failure, or... well, the sinister option.

Two people survived the Jeju crash through sheer luck, so it can happen

To my astonishment there is confirmed survivor of the crash by the looks of it

Sky News can confirm British national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh survived the plane crash in Ahmedabad this morning.

Family members have confirmed to Sky News he was on board the flight and have spoken to him since the crash.

Feel quite sad watching all that, thoughts are with all involved directly or indirectly. I'll be staying off the social media for a few days I think, don't want to see any of the aftermath, for one it's disrespectful and I'll likely not sleep after that.

This is going to be a life changing event for this person. Also depends how he handles it, I hope he can. Truma can be savage.
