What "man jobs" have you done today?

Ok, similar to what I need to do on a few walls

It's coming off much better than I expected and being able to brush the plaster straight under the floor is an added bonus. Lath is being taken out to be burnt at a later date.

The batons are the right depth for the plasterboard, just a bit of fixing here and there with the brick screws + will have to add 1 length of baton per board, due to the widths not matching.

Again not 'Today' but the Last 3 days and we got it finished except a few bits after the sparky has been. This was a 'Make good' project as the lady didn't have a lot of money and everything we took down, something else fell down too so we could have kept going but we had to draw the line and where she told us to stop. Shame really but that's the way it goes.

Insulated the studwork and ceiling with some old celotex free of marketplace :D

Plasterboard and scrim taped it all.

Skimmed it all and painted bitumen on the walls for a bit of extra water ingress protection.

Fitted a new gate and posts.

Put the remaining 4 panels in that were late being delivered and took a sneaky shot of how much garden she lost for her. You can't see the stumps now but he will find them if he takes the old fence down :p

Bricked up the old doorway and put the battens on for the cladding.

Cladding done. I had to use the old fascia as she didn't want to buy a new bit :D Fitted the outside tap too but I'm going to replace the bit of wood holding the tap for something better.

New guttering on, not ideal but she wanted it exactly like it was. I also need to extend it 300mm towards the fascia as I didn't have a union but she told "It will be fine" but I'm going to do it anyway :D

Finally got a tree stump out of the garden. It was near the internal right angle of an old pond wall (that's also quite nice so we're keeping it), so I could only dig out about 60% with a combination of spade, trowel and mattock. Chopped a bunch of roots with an axe. Eventually managed to get a farm jack underneath it and with a lot of brute force managed to jack it up to expose... more roots. Made short work of those with a saw.

Bit of a mission!

You know one of those jobs you think are quick and simple? Yeah...

Thought I'd rejuvenate the old filing cabinets I've had for years that I use for garage storage. Drilled out the rivets holding on the drawer fronts on, sanded back the existing paint to provide a key for the primer.

Underestimated how much primer and spray paint I'd actually need and ran out. I also can't spray paint for toffee :D.

I'm sure it'll look okay after the 4th coat, once I get more paint....

Unbolted the passenger seat so that some 2400x600mm boards would fit in the car. Saved a whopper delivery fee and £400 on cost by going direct to the importer vs local suppliers, cost about £3 in charge and a 4 hour round trip however.

Didn't really want them sat on the dash nor the weight bearing on the seatback/headrest.

Good to see you didn't unplug the seats as that would have probably resulted in a visit to a dealers to plug in and clear faults.

What are you making, that's a lot of boards?
Some of our kitchen as the manufacturer won't produce cabinets (larder / fridge freezer) to the size we want.

I'd planned to disconnect if necessary but for this reason avoided it if I could.

Not clued up on Tesla, but from my time at VW, it is not advised unless in a workshop and to remember that these seats carry charges for the bags and the belts also carry charges.

Now if only they made a pickup :D

Reminds me I need to disconnect my battery and fiddle with the SRS connector on my seats, one of them has worked loose and is giving a warning light.

Wasted about 3 hours on and off yesterday trying to clear what I thought was an airlock in the new cold feed to the kitchen following our recent build work. Turned out I'd just isolated the supply from the water softner to the rest of the house :o

Had the garden hose connected on it and everything wondering why it was never reaching pressure and just taking all this water in. Flushing toilets etc to get it clear. I realised that all (but 1 toilet close to our stopcock) are g ravity fed and the tank in the loft was only 3/4 full before the penny dropped.

Filled remainder of 8 yard skip with rubble, earth and other misc garden junk.

Mist coat in the family room ready for SWMBO to attack with paint samples.
