Thanks again for keeping this thread alive guys, it wouldn't be the same without you! Now, @m4cc45 has really taken to these leaderboards, so congrats to you on yet another win.

This next game choice is one of @m4cc45's with Final Fight, so you may want to select an additional two games to fill up your empty game slots.

*Quick reminder that you don't just have to submit scores for the current game. You can also submit scores for any previously played games, or even new games yet to be featured in the list*

I actually wrote up something similar to the following but they make more sense than mine - for me, the best is the shield (or cross as it's called ingame) the dagger is very fast but doesn't do as much damage as the lance (or javaelin as it's called below):

  • Javelin
Being the decathlete that he is, our knight begins the game with the javelin. Relatively speaking, this is one of the better weapons. It flies fast and straight and is useful against most foes. The only drawback is that you are limited to a maximum of three shots on screen at one time.

  • Dagger (or as the instruction manual calls it, the "Sword")The dagger is the hands-down winner for best weapon. It's fast, small, and accurate. A flurry of daggers makes up in speed what is lacks in strength, as the dagger is slightly weaker than other weapons. Against flying enemies (who almost always die with one hit) the dagger is especially useful.

  • Flame
This "weapon" goes down as one of the worst offensive threats of all-time in ANY game. The damning feature of the flame: it flares up when it hits the ground. Flames from the conflagration are too weak to injure most enemies and even worse, you cannot throw additional fireballs while the ground fire fizzles out. The flame flies in a slight arc, just high enough to soar over the heads of close-up bad guys. It should come as no surprise that the flame is highly endorsed by Satan and his sinister followers.
Believe it or not, this is a fairly good weapon against the red demon.

  • Axe
Chunky and clunky, the axe is essentially the extinguished counterpart of the flame. It flies in a similar arc and you can only toss two at a time. Obviously, it lacks the "instant campfire" aspect of its fiery cousin, though it must be noted the axe will continue through any enemy it makes contact with. The axe won't show up until the second half of the game and even then, it's a fairly rare find.

  • The Cross (or, as it actually looks like, the Shield)There are two good things about the cross: it can destroy enemy bullets and it is the only weapon you can use to truly beat the final boss of Ghosts N' Goblins. It's also a good rapid-fire weapon. You won't see the cross until you have progressed far into the game (enemies start dropping it on level 5).
Unfortunately, the cross has a very limited range and is ineffective against the Unicorn/Cyclops boss (who, might I add, is ALSO wearing red underwear). If Satan was smart, he'd keep a couple of those guys around as bodyguards.

I think this may be for the nes version. You definitely get the shield on level 3 in the arcade version, and I got the axe on level 2 whilst playing this week.

It's probably a pretty good summary of the strengths though.

Final Fight is one of my "most actually played in an arcade" games. Not at all sure I'm good at it, it sure took a chunk of my pocket money :D

64,790. First attempt on phone.

Another game that took a lot of my pocket money. I used to play this with a friend in porthcawl fair in the early 90s.

We ran out of money way before the end of the game.

Ooh Final Fight - hmm extra games as well - god there are so many to choose, I'll have a think whilst I'm getting smashed on Final Fight :)

Bah first go was rubbish 205,820 on the train level. I'm sure I used to be able to get a lot further than that!

Games wise (hopefully I haven't duplicated any):

1. Green Beret
2. Cabal
3. Splatterhouse (this one may change)

I have some much more interesting games next time around :D

P.S. Haven't been to Porthcawl in years! Don't think they had Arcade machines last I went (likely about 15 years ago now) but still a nice place.

243,270 on first attempt. Think I can tighten that up a bit, but I do remember the boss in the wrestling ring just soaking up credits so that might be the 'wall' if I get that far.

first attempt 176,800. Another one of those games i played a lot of on the snes when i had it so i became pretty bored with it, but i enjoyed playing it there, some the the attackers are annoying though!

Final Fight was ok more of a Double Dragon guy myself :D
My top 3 and i see a couple of these have been done already.
1. Bubble Bobble
2. Bomb Jack
3. Rolling Thunder

Bubble Bobble being the first game i look for when i have visited Arcade Club Bury/Blackpool.

Top 3's of any type of games are massively hard for me and vary on the device. On the C64 Bubble Bobble would definitely be up there though. I like Rolling Thunder, ignoring the enemies who pop out of the doors right on top of me, a lot though :)

Some good scoring @Tealc - I've done no better yet and tried a few times. Silly knife people :D
