Golf MK6 - Major service cost expectation?

My dad paid less than that at an independent for his Mk6 GTI for the same service last year. Seems pricey, but if it's at a main dealer than sounds about right. Find a trusty independent - not worth main dealer servicing a Mk6 Golf.

Good to know - thank you. That's a solid comparison as the GTI parts will be the same if not very similar.

Just a quick update: £408 and some number of pence for a major service from a local VW/Audi specialist. So all good.

The discs and brakes are another thing entirely - that part stings more

Seems much more sensible. Almost £200 difference, not to be sniffed at!
Definitely much more sensible.

Given they quoted me around £535 for replacement discs and pads (front and rear) - I hate to think what the main dealer would have quoted! Not sure these need doing, but good to have an idea.

Thanks all for the help. Good to know what I should expect.

They may ask you if you want new wiper blades, both the main dealer and independent Mercedes specialist did when I had a major service with them. Just say no if you don’t, might be worth it if they are old and smearing the screen.

Hyundai tried to charge me a grand minus some change to do discs and pads all around on an i20, I bet VW would be a chunk of change more

Mercedes were a grand alone for parts, fitting was another £400 on top.

£520.29 front pads and discs, £567.54 rear pads and discs with Nissan :s (inc. parts and labour). The local garage it would be around £385 but I can't be bothered to get an exact quote from them.

EDIT: Bit ridiculous to the point I might start doing my own though - never paid more than £329 max so far, labour rates seem to have gone up loads this year.
