**AMD 9950X3D Owners Club**

Arriving a bit late to the party, only the second cpu I'm overclocking and the first amd one :D got plenty of time for some tests during work for a few weeks, prepared a few spreadsheets and started tweaking a bit now. Catching up with the thread, wish me luck :D it was my first build too, had loads of fun putting it together

Welcome!

There are some very knowledgeable people on here that can offer you advice if you get stuck.

I can only achieve 7800Mhz on my G.Skill, 8000 sticks. (MSi Carbon X870E)

Any ideas: is this user error or equipment error?!

Are you on the latest BIOS? If not update.

My observations:
  1. 0.9v is way too low for VSOC. Change to 1.15v. VDDP start at 1.102v.
  2. Timings, change RAS 58, RP 40, RC 98, RFC to 480.
  3. Change memory frequency to 8000Mhz, FCLK to 2000, disable CPU spread spectrum.
  4. Test.

One thing im discovering very quickly with AM5 is too much voltage is just as bad as not enough, you shouldnt need 1.6v VDD, that kit is A Die that you are using, my M Die kit needs 1.58v for 8000, id expect your kit to do it at 1.55v, maybe less, up your SOC volts, and whats your VDDIO at ? ive also found VDDP makes a big difference, dont be afraid to put that to 1.10v even if it comes up red when you select it, they are safe upto 1.15v maybe more, ive never tried beyond that.

Managed to post today on the latest beta bios for my Gene FCLK at 2200, 1.2v SOC failed to post, 1.15v failed to post, 1.18v got to windows but locked up whilst running CB23, so played around with resistances and got into windows and passed CD23, however, the scores were a bit lower than running the FCLK at 2167 with 1.15v SOC, 458xx at 2200, 465xx with FCLK at 2167, so I think some more tinkering is required, seems like some behind the scenes error corrections going on there, but thanks @LtMatt for your help with this one, ive yet to change my RAM to the 32gb kit, maybe tomorrow when ive got a bit more free time.

Have you had alook at @sativa resistances, the Hi-Z is on the Processor pull up rather than the pull down, and also on the Processor DQ, could be one of his issues.

Thank you both: I have found a POST at 8,000 but only 2-3 times, and I have not managed to get into Windows... Hard work. Beers now, so resume tomorrow.

Haven't played with resistances at all.

Are you on the latest bios ? I would change those resistances, they dont look right at all, not sure which board you're using, but if its an ASUS board, you need to change them in the AMD overclocking - DRAM menu, not the AI Tweaker menu as they dont work there and cause lockups.

MSi Carbon x870e: what resistances would you recommend (if you don't mind explaining). latest bios.

Perhaps I shouldn't admit: I am a 25 year veteran with PCs, and found a window in my career to tinker with DDR this week: the last time I played with DDR timings was back in the OCZ days.. So a little bit rusty

@LtMatt How are you securing the fan on your memory? I have one that clips over but I think the way you donut could be better.
I only have a fan there when running a memory stress test. I just balance a high static pressure fan on the GPU pointing towards the DIMMs and hold it in place with two little weights to stop it blowing away from the DIMMs.

I was thinking how does it stay standing .

Are the temps ok while gaming?

Okay, I was a bit skeptical when I saw the comments here that AMD scheduler was useless for VR games but it's a fact  process lasso is a must and works like a charm :)

Probably easier if I just show you how ive set them and you can play with them from there, the locations for the is in the picture at the top.

Well I am in Windows but highly unstable..

Will try some resistances now

This is where im at now, cant get 8200, or 8100 stable on my 32gb kit either, so stuck to 8000 and tightening timings up, same kit as yours.

Nearly got 8100 stable, but I started getting a couple of errors at pass 18 ish, so had to loosen the timings, the AIDA64 benchmark scores were the same as my current timings so it wasnt worth the hassle.

We have the same cpu, board and memory kit. I reckon with the right settings you can go above 8000. Start with 8200, can you enable that profile and share a ZT screenshot with me?

I used your timings, resistances and voltages mate from your ZT screenshot, but one thing I didnt try, and completely skipped my mind which I might go back and give a try is VDDIO voltage.

Hi all.

I upgraded from a 5800x system to a new x870/9800x3d with a 9070Xt and a fresh install of windows and my GPU usage in games Is around the 60/80% mark. does anyone know how to fix this please/
