*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

Have to say, that DK game doesn't do anything for me. Just seems far too one note and chaotic for me.

I've got it on pre-order from Nintendo (physical cartridge), and although it looks a bit manic, I'll give it a go.
It's cool that I can gameshare, and play with the second player on an OG Switch.

I played the original DK Country to death on the SNES many many years ago. Looks like there are parts like this, but most of it is more like Mario Odyssey. I tried DK Country Returns on the Switch a few months back, but it didn't grip me like it did when I was a kid. Something different might be fun!
Yeah I've had DK on pre-order too, not going to watch the Direct as already know it's going to be worth a go for me.

I've not played through Returns but Tropical Freeze is one of my fave 2D platformers ever, in fact I'm finding it hard to think of another platformer I've enjoyed more.

So, a couple of weeks post-launch: how are people feeling? Impressed? Buyer's remorse?

When I got it out of the box and used it for the first few hours, I was really impressed. The size and quality - it just generally feels like a better unit. The screen was bright and larger, and handheld mode was much more comfortable.
Mario Kart World is a big leap from Mario Kart 8.

2 weeks later... I've tried playing my OG (day 1) Switch, my daughters OLED and the Switch 2. Although the Switch 2 screen is a massive improvement on the day 1 Switch, it's a step backwards from the OLED. I'm not one of these people who's up in arms about the LCD over OLED, but there is a clear difference... especially playing in the dark. Also, the battery life of the Switch 2 is better than my day 1 Switch, but nowhere near as good as the OLED. The sound from the Switch 2 is a massive improvement on the Switch.

I'm still jumping in and out of Mario Kart World, but am back playing Super Mario Wonder since I didn't transfer my aves on purpose! Until I get DK Bonanza, I kind of feel that the Switch 2 is just a nicer feeling, better quality, slightly larger Switch... as MKW is my only Switch 2 game.

Definitely no remorse, but I'm looking forward to some more 'new' Switch 2 specific games that can showcase the upgraded hardware.

I reel exactly the same, such a shame, just seems like a chaotic mess, there doesn't seem to be a lot of reason for all the destruction element of the game, usually Donkey Kong is quite a refined platforming experience but this feels all over the place, disjointed.

Is it possible you have buyers remorse from a Nintendo console? I was actually thinking about this seriously and I don't think I've ever experienced it as ultimately you know they bring the goods on the first party front, look how poorly Wii-u sold, yet it had amazing first party games that the Switch lapped up and spat back out.

Also I like that the Switch 2 is not only a new system with completely new proprietary games but it's also rejuvenated some of the great Switch 1 games with performance upgrades, I think this is a first for Nintendo isn't?

Not buyers remorse but I've realised just how bad the screen is now, so cancelled my grip and resigned it to the dock until Nintendo decide to release the proper model.

Interesting how come? I've come from the oled and I think they done a great job, obviously you don't get those inky blacks of oled, the only issue for me is the over saturation and white accuracy but I get why they did it to try and make the screen 'pop', just not that accurate.

To my mind its just a much better Switch 1 which is fine for me. I don't game a huge amount. We will see how it looks in a few years. I have a PS5 that barely gets touched these days. If they every released Sky Go on the Switch 2 I would sell the PS5.
