The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

surely this isnt right on idle?
nearly 70w

That's not idling as something is utilising the GPU. You must have some background process using it.
You should be around 10w at idle and 0% GPU usage.

And yet we do expect it from other things, like games or operating systems. Do Nvidia do Fine wine? If not is it because they don't bother or because they do get much closer to delivering the full performance at launch? If everyone makes improvements over time why do we make such a big deal out of AMD doing it?
Maybe AMD make more improvements over time? Which might then lead me to think that while you can't expect them to be perfect from the start, is it reasonable to expect better than we get?
6 months in and Nvidia 50 series drivers are still broken.
This is the 9070 owners thread, so you will find positive posts about 9070 series cards here.

True, doesn't mean we can't be objective though.
Think how good the fine wine will be if Nvidia get their drivers working! :D

Also Nvidia are having issues for sure, but it's not like some of the 9070/9070XT cards don't have hardware issues of their own.

Equally though, some people still think AMD drivers are bad and won't get an AMD card when really they've done a great job getting them to be a non-issue.

End of the day they are massive companies that you shouldn't be loyal to and treat them as such based on individual products.

AMD reminding me why I avoided them for so many years. God these cards suck. CSM enabled, disable CSM, BIOS BOOT cycle. MBR convert to GPT, refuses to do it. Only AMD can have me indoors for an entire ****** day installing a GPU. Absolutely uselesss, wish i hadn't sold my 3060Ti.

Not AMD's fault that you had CSM enabled and an old install stuck on MBR (likely migrated from Windows 7)?

Nvidia worked fine! What the hell does MBR or GPT got to do with the operation of a graphics card ? Only AMD could require a full OS install just to work, lmfao. Gonna send this turd back.

Quite a lot given that you need a GPT layout hard drive to work with native UEFI (i.e. CSM turned off).

So I guess you haven't had REBAR turned on with your NVIDIA card either then (given that requires CSM to be turned off) and so have left performance on the table. Intel also basically require REBAR to be turned on as well otherwise you get poor performance.

Gonna send this turd back.
Why won't your MBR convert to GPT? what is the actual issue you are encountering?

Speak for yourself, love my 9070XT Pulse since the day i got it.

Yep - I was just pointing out that jumping on a post merely pointing out improved performance with AMD drivers was a bit weird.

Had a similar issue a few months ago, moving OS via System Image wouldnt work, had to use Diskpart to convert the Nvme I wanted to put the OS on to GPT..

Btw I'm on Nvidia.

I’m experiencing stutter playback on YouTube videos when using chrome but when I use edge no stutter , has anyone encountered this and found a solution ?

Known issue:
  • Stutter and lower than expected performance may be observed while playing 4K resolution YouTube videos in Chromium. Users experiencing this issue are recommended to play videos in full screen as a temporary workaround.

Is there a 9070XT that people recommend in particular? or any to avoid? I'm pretty much 100% set on a 9070XT for my new build but unsure which models people recommend and which to avoid?

Hmm, my other brother has just bought a Nitro+ XT (my younger bro got one at launch) from OCUK, but all doesn't seem well.

During a 3DMark stress test the card's average temp stays below 65°c, but both memory and hotspot hit the low 90's. Not ideal but not a cause for concern, however apparently it sounds like a jet taking off, loud enough for his wife to comment!

He logged behaviour during the 3DMark test and the fan speed averages 2400rpm! From what I've seen in reviews and heard from my other brother, the card should typically stay around 1350-1500rpm.

A poor mount from the sound of it. I'm thinking he'll have to return it for a swap, does anyone have any experience with OCUK in a similar circumstance?

EDIT: I've submitted a return request to swap it like for like, hopefully there's plenty of stock...
