Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

So there I am, pootling through the game, kill the paintress and think "cool, pretty much done with it, that was quite good but I'm not really sure what all the 10/10 fuss was about". And then bang, the big reveal and act 3. Wow! Not sure I've been "mind blown" by a game's storyline since Bioshock Infinite.

Heard so many good things about this game, I've finally caved and downloading it. If I don't like it I'm blaming the entire gaming industry and its community.

Just finished the game today

Wowwww, I went from being a bit confused as to where the story was taking me to “oh my god, I have to choose the fate of the cavas? What?! Ultimately, went with Verso but the choice really felt bittersweet. What a fantastic game. Really really loved it

Depends what you hated about Metaphor, I guess. They both feature turn based combat, but beyond that are quite different in aesthetic, narrative tone and gameplay ( E33 relies a lot on QTEs for parry/jump/dodge ).

Ok I know this isn't the Metaphor thread but this is the thing that I instantly disliked about metaphor. I had to stick it on the easiest difficulty because at the default difficulty I didn't understand how combat was meant to work. I just keep dieing over and over again without a real hint why. I know there is some dodge mechanic but none of it felt intuitive at all.

I played the game for about an hour on the easiest difficulty hating every second. And then when I Googled how long the bleeping game was thinking I'd finish it quickly I find out it's 80+ hrs... I thought sod that for a laugh and uninstalled.

Fair enough. I didn't find Metaphor hard to play - but that's probably because the combat system is very similar to the Persona games which I've played for an endless number of hours. Expedition 33 is nothing like that - the difficulty is all in your reflexes for pulling off dodges, parries and jumps.

Not having played a turn based rpg since Lost Odessey on the 360, I used to love playing them but lost interest. Had to try this after all the reviews, hype etc and wow what a game.

Just looks, plays and sounds amazing, enjoying it very much, my only issue is it seems to crash after a couple of hours or so. It will just lock up and I get a fatal crashes error message and have to alt-f4 to come out of it.

Tried 2 different nvidia drivers and still get it, I’ve seen on Reddit some saying lowering gfx settings worked for them but still happens, just wondering if anyone else has had this?

Not personally had an issue with this game crashing, I presume you've tried the latest nVidia drivers as they had fixes in for stability in Clair Obscur, maybe try with the clean install option.

Around 8 hours in now and just left gestral village, apart from getting my arse handed to me a few times want to crack on as the stories grabbed me and looking forward to where it goes.

Not having any issues with performance or crashes etc with everything maxxed at 4k.

Just bought this, only 90 mins into it but it's nice. something strange about the hair on the characters makes it look odd, not sure if that's jsut me or a setting somewhere.

Still struggling to get the parry and dodge timing right :)

Yeah I have the latest installed but I’ll try a driver reinstall see if that helps, just annoying especially when a boss has got a sliver of health left and it locks up

It might be the forced sharpening on the hair. There's a mod to easily reduce that; I've halved it and it looks much better.

No crashes or issues here, game runs like a dream.

had a few of those, and also had it where it just crashes on every launch. Setting DLSS to ultra performance makes it launch and then I can change it back, idk if that would fix the crashing too because I cannot play with that heavy DLSS :D
