Another Drunk Driver Crashes into my Car

Insurance is such a big scam that's legal, should be better regulated...

I would normally say how I think its stupid for insurers to up your premiums when someone drives into your parked car, as the chances of it happening again to the same person are slim.

However......

Yeah I don’t know what I must have done in a former life, must have been a murderous dictator or something but to be fair the 3 cars being driven into has happened over 14 years or so although the last two has been over 4 years

commiserations : they were all outside your place - how long had it taken to find your M5

( council map shows locations of rta accidents in cambs, so can get a feel of historic back spots )

It's probably fixable, but it's a question of whether the insurance company will pay for the fix. .
Add on to the top of that the cost of a suitable replacement for the 2-4 months that’ll be in the shop. Probably not far off a grand a week in hire car charges.

Sorry to see this happen Bear and hopefully they will not write this off, which looking at it, may be a possibility due to availability of parts etc.

They will be liable for third party damage but i believe they wont pay for the drunk drivers own damages? Been a while since i worked insurance so someone may correct me

Drunk driver's insurance will pay for Bear's damages
Insurance won't pay for drunk driver's damage.
Insurance will take drunk driver to court to recoup Bear's payout
Drunk driver isn't likely to be insurable for the foreseeable future

My neighbour's car got stolen by the relay method. My insurance increased 50% on renewal. :(

Already got my courtesy car delivered. They gave me a Range Rover Sport, can’t be cheap but I guess they try and get you a suitable replacement for what you normally drive  They gave me a steering lock device to help prevent it getting stolen

Someone who's stupid/selfish/wreckless enough to drink drive will just continue to drive uninsured. Everyday folk get hammered by huge premiums

Beyond annoying, I would be monumentally annoyed as i’m sure you are. Had this happen to a car twice over the years. Once in a pub car park (which we didn’t spot until the next day) and once outside a local post office, both drunk drivers, the one in the pub paralytic.

We can now look forward to: 'Somebody crashed into my courtesy car!'

A weird courtesy car choice. A super fast saloon and they give you a (Relatively) slow SUV.

I suppose if it they do nick it, it’ll break down a mile away!

I'm really sorry to hear this. It amazes me that people drink drive. For the guy to lose control like that, he must have been wasted?!

This is horrible :(

In a situation like this, what is the preferred end result? I imagine a Write off Vs having a car that's then registered as some sort of CAT going forward?

Obviously both suck, genuine question though.
