No one talking about the "attack" on the RAF refueling aircraft?

Idiots.

However, its the message it sends out to the more "dangerous" idiots who could see this as an opportunity thinking its now relatively easy to gain access to a military site.

Guard shifts across the MoD estate will definitely be more "switched on" I'd assume after this embarrassing episode.

I assume this is the story about Palestinian Action breaking into RAF Brize Norton and spraying an aircraft engine at a cost of £15m to £20m? I think the reason there isn't much talk about the story here is that it is political and should probably be in Speakers Corner. I'm sure it's been mentioned there somewhere.

Yes heads should roll. Yes they should be tracked down and arrested. It looks like Palestinian Action will be proscribed (ie banned) by the government. There appears to be a counter protest against their proscribing that is being organised.

Is it verboten to talk about it here ? :P

How on earth did this happen? Break in, cause £MILLIONS£ of pounds of damage to military equipment then escape unmolested.

What the actual??

Some heads must roll for this and if captured those responsible should be facing a real life in prison.
I did link to it in the thread this moment and time in 2025 thread. I expect them mods have deemed it political although it is far from that and are hoping that it is confined to SC.

YES I totally agree that Palestine action should be proscribed as a terrorist grouping and activities such as happened incur jail time.

The security was dire, the fencing laughable so yes that also, heads should roll. As to whether the OP need link a national news story is also debatable which often is ignored in the higher house of SC.

It was discussed briefly in the middle east thread in SC, given it was palestine protest related
ok fair enouggh. I thought it was pretty major news given all thats happened over the weekend.... Political stuff gets kicked out of GD. Ok oh well.

It's not political. All sides seem pretty rubbish at this. Just good old fashioned national security.

If I broke into a military base I'd fully expect to get shot.
FTFY.
Just shows how lax things are. On the one hand we're constantly told how dangerous everything is now, and on the other hand people can waltz in to a military base and do this.

If I broke into a military base I'd fully expect to get shot at.
You wouldn't be as there are strict rules of engagement (ROE's) that have to be followed. When I was in the RAF and doing guard duty we basically had our hands tied behind our backs when it came to the ROE's and if anybody broke them they would find themselves in jail for a long time. Flight lines were the responsibility of the RAF Police and normal bods like myself were not permitted to do guaard duty in any technical ares or the flight line, we just did the main gate alonngside RAFP, patrolled married quarters and the perimeter fence on some bases.

Absolutely mental that a couple of idiots on electric scooters can gain that sort of access to a military base. This is the level of useless I'd expect from G4S.
glass half full maybe it is not such a bad thing. I am not saying they should not be prosecuted to the highest extent of the law but had that been a really bad actor with bombs it would have been even worse.
so you could look at it as a (very expensive) test of our security and it failed disastrously.

Absolutely this! If this bunch of plonkers managed it, imagine what a few well trained visitors on a sight seeing tour to a cathedral could do. Probably scupper any number of sitting aircraft.

Interesting. In the US there are signs outside bases warning trespassers and yes you can be shot dead for trespassing; with the odd US base even having land mines that could kill trespassers.

What US bases struggle with is drones; as they are not allowed to just shoot down drones due to laws around what happens if the drone lands on and damages private property or another civilian, so if you want to throw some paint on expensive jets, protesters can fill balloons with paint, hang them from the drone and drop them.
