Solar panels and battery - any real world recommendations?

Panels are all up and done. Sparky is doing all the connections etc. One issue is the CT Clamp that's come with the system is broken so they have to order another (can only get them from FoxESS) so that's coming tomorrow of Thursday and they're coming back to fit that on Friday so that the battery can then be connected, but other than that it's gone quite well from what they've told me.

They're available almost everywhere. I bought one when I had my heat pump fitted. Unlikely you'd get it earlier wherever you ordered from though.

I asked that as we have a CEF (City Electrical Factors) about 7 miles away, but the sparky said they had to fit the Fox ones, so they have to come back which is a shame as it means about a 3 hour round trip for a 10 minute job, but they might want an easy Friday :D

I love seeing the -3,000w on the live reading from the Octopus app though, even without the battery I'm not being charged (figuratively & literally) Ha!
When the Sun came out I saw 10kw peak but then it's gone cloudy again. Boo!

Now I need to switch to a better energy deal. Is Octopus still the better deal (I'm on their Tracker and don't have an EV)?

If you're with Octopus, then Go + Outgoing Octopus is probably your best option these days. If you have a heat pump then Cosy can make some sense in winter, but it depends on your heating load. If you have at least 15 kWh storage (or no heat pump) then Go is probably best all year round. Flux is the proper solar tariff, but it got rather downgraded this year and IMHO not really worth it unless you have tons of storage to really hammer the peak export window. Agile isn't a bad option either, but again over the last year it's not been better than being on Go on average. Plus Go is pretty much just set and forget so nothing to worry about.

Only caveat is that Go is technically an EV tariff, but Octopus don't actually check at this time so anyone can sign up.

Thanks, I'll look into that tomorrow. I'm awaiting on my DNO application to come back, but FPS are handling that.

FoxCloud 2.0 has reported we generated 15.6kWh today which isn't bad seeing as it was so cloudy and rainy and we only got connected from about 3:30pm.

Not strictly related to solar and batteries but has anyone had the DNO unloop their supply? Had a letter come through yesterday saying that National Grid wanted to unloop ours. Didn’t realise that it actually was a looped supply. Not going to cost anything. Wonder if it’s just coincidence or whether the application for the EV charger triggered it?

It's the EV charger.

Can't have one on a looped supply without authorisation, and they tend to unloop instead of this.
