I've had a Herman Miller Sayl gaming chair for a couple of years now, before that an ikea padded leather one.

Got rid of the Ikea after 2 weeks off sick with back problems, never been off work with bad back since getting the HM.

A good chair is an investment and likely to last 10-15+ years.

See if you can pick up a second hand Herman Miller aeron. Best chair I have ever owned

100% - Exactly what I did - refurbed - Amazing - had it 4/5 years now - zero back issues, super comfy, spend 8-12 hours a day in mine.

Had Ikea Marcus before - it was fine - but nowhere near as good as the Aeron.

Don't skimp on a chair. Can be had refurbed for around £500/600. Will last you years.

Absolutely 100% this. When you spend so much time sat in it, make sure it's bang on. Same with shoes and clothes.

And motorcycles, but that's a different thread.

repeating what I've written in earlier threads ... but had to have an aeron for about 5years at work,
but after a herniated disk, privately bought a kneeling chair, varier balans which I still use daily 15 years later, look for a 2nd hand one
if you look up details on kneeling chairs, you can't slouch and the angle between thighs & back is opened up;
one of other dislikes I had for aeron, was rigid front edge behind the knee joints.
e: and another con was the mesh which was a bit cold both in the A/C office, and would also be in the less heated home office, and it's not very conformal to backside, versus padding
e2: V Ok the sayl has a padded seat too.

I got a furb Steelcase Please V2 for £210 five years ago, one of the best purchases that I've ever made...
I spend more time in the chair than I do in bed, and people spend 1000s on their mattress.

Thats what put me off the HM Aeron, the rigid front edge. The Sayl does not have this.

I bought a HM Mirra 2 chair for WFH as I used to do 10hr days 4 days a week so wanted to be comfortable. The front edge on the Mirra can be dipped or raised so doesn’t put pressure on the back of your legs

yep - genuinely standing up becomes tiring - kneeling chair is a halfway house

What are you sitting on at the moment?

I try and sit up straight a lot in my office chair, and often am not contacting the back of the chair at all, and I find this good for my back.

The Herman Miller and Orangebox chairs are good.
