I would assume that budget would go up stepping into EV space once you are charging at home though?
Which would negate the biggest personal benefit for going EV?

He's surely saving fuel so maybe half this saving to a car? Sound like no SS or experience of lease, but if you go no deposit that would free up a load of cash if he sells the current car. Dont know, some people need spoon feeding it seems so have to guess how their mind works.Which would negate the biggest personal benefit for going EV?
Interested to hear more details in a nut shell, I wouldn't really want go over £250 a month if I'm honest though, that's what I typically budget for for a loan when trading up

Sounds an expensive way to run an EV.Nah, one of the advantages would be the money saved would go elsewhere, I also likely wouldn't be able to get a wall box straight away, still need to look into those but I could get away with basic charging for a bit plus there is a Tesla charger 5 mins walk from work

Whats £250 a month mean? he could have 20k deposit or 5k deposit, some arbitrary limit of £250 doesn't really make sense on its own. Does this include maintance, tyres, insurance and tax or just the loan payment? My scheme has 58kwh Born V2 for 320 a month 10k, 3yrs no deposit. No brainer as everything else is covered and if you had a car you suddenly get a chunk of free cash
Have you considered the socket may be faulty or giving a bad connection. My tesla wall charger keeps complaining its "too hot". At the point of connection to the house electricals.
Unsure why, I used the correct mm2 cable.
My Isolation switch is now installed by National Grid, and my Mach E PEN box arrived.
So I'm going to redo the entire installation this weekend with a thicker conductor cable to rule it out.
If it still moans and restricts down to 3amps. I'll have to make a warranty claim on the charger unit.

The socket on the car?Have you considered the socket may be faulty or giving a bad connection.
It’s either usually either the socket or the fuse holder on granny leads. In my time on the Tesla owners groups, I’ve never seen a melted plug/fuse holder, I’ve seen a shed load of melted sockets.
The socket on the car?
My charger is the 7KW Wall connector Gen 3.
Its issue is it says the connection of the tails to the unit itself are "too hot", so throttles.
Fair enough but no one if getting into a newer car to save money. If it was ICE you would have same 250 thats all i assumed, good you answered it rather than other people on your behalf. Very odd behaviour ICDP. Id be happy to pay a touch more for a car rather than a Tesla, try some out and you may have a different view.
Why do you need to walk to a charger though...
No, However its still showing an issue. So it's either the direct wiring or the wall charger itself that is faulty.Exactly. Telsa Wall charger isnt a granny is it.
Any money saved is an advantage, I'm more interested in the change for the tech and the performance
Charger near work just in case it needed fast charging, likely not needed just thought it worth mentioning because I said I would likely have to mains charge it for a month or two before a wall box is installed
Some of the 'tech' in other cars is far superior - dont rule them out just yet.

What is your daily mileage? You can add 60 - 70 miles with a granny charger each night in the 6 hour lower price window that most EV tariffs get.
My bad, I assumed it was a granny. No, However its still showing an issue. So it's either the direct wiring or the wall charger itself that is faulty.
There are different error messages if the connection to the car itself was "too hot"
