*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

I'll give some of those a go when I run out! Bilt Hamber products are usually excellent. I do really like Semper though, I'm surprised you didn't find it slick enough.

The guys at Clean and Shiny love it but they love anything Labo, as they’ve been wined and dined by them :P

Good wash mitts make a bigger difference than the shampoo. Rag company do decent ones. Even the Turtle Wax Ultimate one is nice, but a bit too fluffy and degrades quickly.

I need some help. What are we using for exhaust tips? The Cupra has 4, but I’m not convinced they are shiny by default. They sort of look dark.

If they’re a painted metal, you won’t want to use a metal polish.

Apparently it strips them - definitely haven’t done that myself :P

Probably just use a good APC?

Could you upload a picture and let me know what you’re trying to achieve so I can better advise? :)

Thank you. What’s an APC apart from an Armoured Personnel Carrier? :D

I’m just trying to make sure they’re clean, bit I think it has black metal tips by the pics?

I’m reasonably sure they’re matte black, so you won’t want to use a metal polish as it’ll definitely strip them.

As mentioned, start with a good all purpose cleaner.

What is it you want to achieve with them? Just to clean?

Heavy drizzle overnight has rinsed most of the dust off my car. It's certainly no longer too dirty to take for MOT. Winning!

Best thing in the winter with a coated car

Get home after driving in the rain - "damn, car is filthy"

Wake up next day after it's been hammering it down - "oh sick it's clean again"

my car is literally covered in sand every time it rains, and it's bloody annoying. Far too hot to wash it too.

Looking for a little advice if it's possible.

I stupidly bought a white car.

When it's just washed it look fantastic but soon after it starts looking grubby.

Is there any magical product that will keep it looking good for a bit longer or am I just doomed for my idiocy?

Welcome to the rabbit hole that is car detailing, where you'll spend the next few months finding that product, then once you do your brain goes "yeah but what if there's something better".

The next thing you know you've spent £££s on loads of different products, only to realise how you apply them is more often than not more important.

Oh wait sorry you didn't ask for my life story.

Short answer: yes there are products which can help it stay much cleaner.

Long answer: you need to try different ones to see what works for you.

A slick ceramic coating would be the most ideal, but you can get similar effects with less permanent products, such as Gyeon Cancoat Evo
