Tiny Tina's wonderlands. 3/10
Got this free on epic, finished it in a few days as it's quite short and easy but i haven't done all the side quests.
I would have been upset if id have paid for this, it's pretty dull and boring and even though it's short still felt like a chore getting to the end as it's quite repetitive plus none of the guns i got were very fun or interesting.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 - 9.5/10

I have just finished this and have to say even though it's not really my sort of game I found myself addicted!
First time I launched it, I played it for about 10 minutes and turned it off thinking I wouldn't like it, but having seen some of the reviews I made myself play it again and I have to say I am so glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed it, music, characters, voice acting and gameplay.

I can't say I followed the story all the way as I struggle to focus and follow storylines a lot of the time.

Highly recommended, really enjoyed it.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time - 9/10

That was a very nice surprise. After a rather dull first hour, it turns into a genuinely lovely little game. I've never been able to click with the "pure" cozy life-sims like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, as they don't have enough gaming meat on the bones to keep me interested. By adding 2D Zelda-style combat and exploration to the mix, it becomes a lot more compelling.

The game's really an object lesson in integrated design. While none of its elements - combat, exploration, gathering, crafting - are top-tier in their own right, they way they interact with each other gives a game that's substantially greater than the sum of its parts. It's also great at reducing friction, with class-switching being easy and seemless. I love how it dispenses with the crap that a lot of developers think are essential - durability systems, inventory limits, all that guff - and is better, not worse for it.

I wrapped up the story in just under 60 hours and there's a substantial post-game still to do. I know the price tag may seem high for a game with low-fi visuals, but it really is worth it. Runs great on the Steam Deck as well.

Doom: The Dark Ages - 8/10

And another one finished, so two posts in a row here for me. While a good game, this was still a bit of a letdown. Doom 2016 was a 10/10 for me. Doom Eternal was a 9/10. So this continued the gradual downward drift of the rebooted series.

At times, it's pretty great. The "traditional" Doom-style levels can be fantastic. The combat, while not quite as adrenelin-boosty as 2016 or Eternal, flows well, particularly in the later parts of the game when you have plenty of weapons and upgrades unlocked. But the more open levels didn't work as well for me, with the pacing feeling a bit limp. The mech and dragon stuff... keep it.

The writing is also frankly dismal. I'm really surprised they doubled down on all the lore nonsense after the slating it got in Eternal. "Golly gosh, I do hope I get to find out more about those zany Makyr" said nobody, ever. The cutscenes have a whiff of Marvelstink to the them and I honestly hoped most of the human characters were going to get killed.

The ending was a bit of a letdown as well.
It looks like it's setting up for another Dark Ages game, rather than just putting Doomguy in the damned casket so he can timeskip to 2016. That, I think, would be mistake. The faux-medieval setting just doesn't quite work for the series.

Finally finished Stalker 2.

I absolutely loved it for the most part but the story and the finale were a real slog.

The sandbox element was fantastic, finding artefacts, fighting mutants and looting stashes while exploring was just a joy.

Death's Gambit: Afterlife

8/10 - Approx 44 hours - Played entirely on my ROG Ally

Free on Epic Games a while back. 2D platformer 'Souls' like. Really fun, combat is pretty good, main story is good. Doesn't try to do too much. I spent some time grinding to upgrade armour/weapons, although I hit the 150 level cap very quickly. The bosses are mostly well balanced, heroic versions are more difficult, some heroic bosses are impossible . The ending criteria can catch you out, so if you're not looking to do new game plus, I'd check a guide for the best ending. There are a number of optional things to do (not quite 'side quests' per se) that can be missed, so look out for them.

God of war & Ragnarök - Averaging the scores
Gameplay 8/10
Music 9/10
Narrative for me was 10/10 really vibed with it all.
Adored these I am a huge fan of my man Teal'C so it was a no brainer. I'm not sure how it took me so long to play this but it was an immediate purchase of Ragnarök after the first.
I'd go 9/10 on the gameplay but otherwise totally agree.
I bought a PS4 Pro for the original when it came out and loved every minute of 100%ing it. I wait and waited for Ragnarok on PC and just finished the story yesterday. About half way though Valhalla now and still absolutely loving it!

Is it worth picking up at full price or better to wait for a drop/sale?

It's probably worth it. After a limp couple of opening missions, the gunplay is actually really good. It's also not a short game - around 22 hours on the clock for me, though I did get 100% achievements, so spent a fair bit of time secret hunting.

I'd hope you could skip the cutscenes.

Thanks. I've been on the fence, love HP but reviews have been mixed. If the gameplay is good that's what I'm looking for in my games these days. Gonna pull the trigger!

Silent Hill 2 remake.
Played on hard puzzles / combat.
I never played the original all the way through and somehow never had the story spoiled. It's quite a journey... Nothing else has gripped me like this for years.
It's also a beautiful looking game dripping with atmosphere and some decent puzzles. The combat isn't anything special and does get a little repetitive, but I was happy to find that I did need to consider how I was going to engage whatever came next as ammo was relatively scarce and some encounters were a bit hairy if you weren't prepared.
I don't have the patience to play through for the other endings, but it is an awesome game.

Back here again! Just finished The Operator, another freebie from Epic Games.

Cool concept, with a limited budget. Unfortunately, this leads to lightning fast pacing and a very short game. It can be done in less than 4 hours and I even restarted due a failed puzzle early on (such a dumb mistake, I couldn't forgive myself ). It's all main story, no side content, no pause to absorb what's happening, every gameplay element used only once, no alternative endings, no replay value. Think short visual novel, rather than video game. At some point's it's frustrating that you can do nothing else but click exactly what the game wants you to click ('Do you trust me?', 'No', 'Say you trust me', 'I trust you', next plot point ). Honestly, the brevity ruins the experience.

Good points: The puzzles are fun, familiar, not too difficult. The music is very good.

6/10. It's OK if on 50% sale, or for free.

Dead Space Remake - 8/10

Still a great game but it's one of those where the better graphics and smoother gameplay didn't necessarily make for a better experience. A lot of the ship felt very samey due to how dark everything was and half the time it felt like I was fighting the darkness more than the necromorphs, I couldn't see ****. I'm not a fan of the free roam Zero G either, it could just be me but it made aiming at constantly moving targets way more annoying than the old point and jump system. I also feel like the enemies were a lot slower in this version. They also nerfed my baby the plasma cutter, the OG felt hefty as, the new one felt like a fly squatter.

It could be that my memory of the original is rose tinted but it definitely felt like a step down for me.

Metaphor: Refantazio

Went from one turn-based RPG in Expedition 33 to another with this one. It was kind of overshadowed for me by how brilliant Expedition 33 was, but this was a very good JRPG too. A bit more forgiving with the time mechanics that P4G, which is the only other Atlus game I've played, and I liked the archetype system with its cool synergies and skill inheritances, the overworld battle system against lower-level enemies so you didn't keep getting pulled into increasingly tedious turn-based fights with chaff, and the world and characters were quite engaging too. I don't generally like the shounen focus of a lot of JRPGs (and manga and anime come to that), and preferred Clair Obscur's more mature protaganists, but I did really enjoy this game overall. So, a healthy 8.5/10 for me.

Metro exodus, very good and DLC, I enjoyed the whole series....8 out of 10.....
I bought Metro 2033 Redux/Last Light Redux, for very cheap awhile ago, and it seemed very dull/slow/simple compared to say STALKER or anything else, and very closed in areas?
Do I need to give it another go and just wait very patiently till something good happens/areas increase in size, or is this just how it is?
