9800x3d idling ~55 degrees should I reapply Thermal Paste?

Hi all, just done a new build and my 9800x3d is idling around ~53-55 degrees which seems a bit toasty.

However if I play a game like Warzone the CPU doesnt go higher than 65/66 and in the cinebench multi test it didnt go higher than 85.

Should I be concerned with this/looking to repaste it? I must also say that my PC is a little bit 'boxed' in so wonder if this could be affecting the temperature? I have attached a picture here;

It's a bit high, but I can't see much from that pic so what's the ventilation like in the case? What cooler is it? Are the fans spinning slowly/quickly?

If it doesn't go over 85C in cinebench it's likely just a quiet fan curve set for your cooler/case fans that ramps up under load

Heres a better picture;

I have 3 intake on the side, one intake on the bottom.

3 AIO fans on the top exhaust and 1 exhaust

Fans are spinning fine, I have my fan curves set to standard using the lian Li software, theyre all at around 1400RPM. The pump is on 2300rpm

Its just idling high but reaches 65 degress in games

You can also see the curve here;

To test you can ramp that curve up a bit and see if it makes a difference, are all fans (case & AiO) on the same/similar curve? Doesn't seem like there is anything massively wrong but it should be a little lower.

In this current weather I wouldnt be worried about it at all, my 9800X3D in my Mrs ITX machine is idling at 52c, and my 9950X3D under water with a Mo_Ra IV 200 is idling at 48c, neither machines are sat in the window like yours pretty much is which will radiate heat, whats your ambient temps roughly ?

Yes, all on the same curve. I ramped them up ant the temp seemed to stay the same but the GPU ones lowered

Yeah I was thinking this too as the room is toasty. First floor and there is no airflow coming in at all. Unsure of exact ambient temps but its hot.

Idle is a bit hot, but your gaming and stress temps are alright, so suggests there isn't a big issue there.
Yeah this is why I am super confused as if it was something wrong with my thermal paste/contact surely the temp would be in the 80s when gaming? I play Warzone and render at 4k, doesnt go higher than 65s

I think with this heatwave I'll reassess what its like when its a bit cooler.

First time builder and mounting the AIO/applying the paste was certainly the most difficult bit. When applying the thermal paste I used the spatula to spread it instead of the blob, so this may have caused an issue. But its weird as I get mixed results from people

Seems pretty simple to reapply the paste though, just use alcohol to wipe it and reattach. So guess I'll reassess when cooler, thanks for the input all.

Could be as simple as a background app preventing your CPU from entering a fully idle state. Since your load temps are fine I wouldn't worry about it.

Under HWMonitor the "package" is currently idling at 54C and CCD #0 is 43C.

I have an EK 240mm AIO and have no fan curve or anything setup.

Its like an oven today and the room is about 30C at the moment.

I've never checked what mine normally idles at until now but this is with Chrome open and 6 tabs

Must've been the heat, temps gone to 51 degrees with ~10% cpu load [have some stuff running in background].

Reached 60 idle yesterday but ambient room temperature was like 33 degrees.

I ran cinebech yesterday for the amusement

hot!

Under 75 playing Robocop.

Package always seem to be 50 degrees idle, at least 12 higher than cores.

I have a similar case - I mounted my AIO radiator / fans on the right side intake. That way they only get fresh 'cold' air.

If I understood correctly and you have your radiator at the top of the case, then it is also having to deal with hot air that the GPU and other components are dumping in the case. Moving it may take a few degrees off your idle if you want to drop it further

My 9800X3D is in a high airflow case I’m seeing 45c idles at this time of year so these do idle on the warmer side.

Have you tried setting a negative -30-40 on the curve optimizer as that should reduce temps a bit especially at load.

Thanks for your replies. Seems to be idling at ~51 degrees now, I also tightened the AIO a bit which may have helped temperatures. Since it doesnt go that high ingames I'll just leave it for now
