The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

Helping a mate out with a new build and he's happily set on a 9070XT but is now wondering which model to get.

My genuine thought is just get the cheapest/whichever is on offer - but is that the best approach with the 9070XT? Outside of cooling, the OC models don't seem to offer enough (2-3%) of an improvement to justify the extra cost. I really like the Taichi model from Asrock but it's almost 50-70 quid more expensive. He's pairing it with a 7800X3D and playing at 4k.
Looking back I don’t think anybody has reported a particular stinker. There’s been the odd model here and there with the odd problem and we have told them to send it back.

I guess it comes down to what are the important factors. RGB, yes/no/don't care, loudness, size of card, colour, brand, warranty & obviously price.
The OC models aren't just overclocked, but will usually have a better cooler, RGB and extra features like bual bios etc.

no expert.. but if looks dont matter overly, cheapest.. i got the 9070 pulse.. runs cool (ram a little toasty), does everything i want and was a lot cheaper than the other models..

Thanks all, have relayed this across now. I largely said the same, just go with the model which has the features he wants vs. looking into + or - 10mhz here or there - and then add them all to price alerts and grab whichever drops to his preferable price. I saw OCUK have the Gigabyte Gaming model on for 629.99 at the moment which, whilst not MSRP, is definitely closer to where it should be around that 600 mark.

Warrantee period on the Sapphire and PowerColor both 3 years? @Gibbo

Are the Pulse XT's due back in stock this week.

New 9800x3d build done bar the GFX, on IGP :(

I believe Gibbo responded in the summer sale thread to me that Sapphire are 3 years and he's trying to pull some sale for the pulse around the 8th July but wasn't official until he updates us and they would be back in stock later this week or early next week.

Just came in here to post this, been AMD for a few gens now mainly due to VRAM vs cost but actually now feel with my 9070XT that I have made the better choice overall from a tech point of view. Really interesting stuff coming from AMD this gen and I see the PS5 pro is getting some huge FSR improvements next year. At this rate I don't see me jumping back to NVIDIA any time soon. Already wondering what UDNA will do and what the nitro+ will look like :-)

TLDR:

9070 XT: +9% at 1440P
5070 Ti +2.5% at 1440P

The 5070 Ti was 2% faster at 1440P while now the 9070 XT is 3% faster.

4K the 5070 Ti saw a 3% improvement while the 9070 XT saw a 4% improvement, they are now neck and neck at 4K but the 9070 XT is marginally faster in the 1% lows.

I mean the 9070XT should be almost £100 cheaper if it were MSRP, but even with the hiked prices... exactly ;)
But they didn't report on the RT performance and we know AMD has the hardware in these GPUs, quite a bit more of the chip dedicated to it now. Just potentially behind on the software side for this tech considering how variably well the 9070XT performs in RT games.

I guess it's good for those of us on 1440p monitors, though sometimes I like to run games at 4k VSR for that nice AA-like effect.

I don't see AMD being significantly behind in software, i assume we are talking about DLSS vs FSR, not the Driver UI / features because if we were i would put AMD ahead... :D

FSR 4 is marginally better than DLSS 3, most thech jurnoes agree on that, DLSS 4 is better than FSR 4 but again only marginally so, DLSS 4 also has 4X frame gen, yet if i turn on the driver level AMAF 2.1 and use it in conjunction with the in game frame gen i get the same crappy result as DLSS 4 four X fame gen, and i can do that with any game.

The only thing i would agree with is that DLSS is in more games, but AMD are rapidly building that FSR 4 game library.

Software could also mean software support, as in 3rd party applications that make use of CUDA cores (for example) to accelerate their workloads.

It really is a shame that AMD can't find this performance sooner, like before the reviews are done. I guess these drivers might get used if a site/channel reviews the refresh cards (such as the SUPERs or whatever AMD may have).

This generation more than ever you have to wonder if Nvidia are getting the most out of their cards or if their drivers are just continuously poor and leaving performance on the table on top of the other issues they have.

Although I will admit regardless of which brand I own I don't tend to update drivers once I've found something that seems stable (unless a driver fixes a specific issue I have).
