*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

Ah ok good to know. I'm not very creative anyway so that's probably a good thing
Mid game or earlier if you go underground early on you get something called auto-build and access to schematics so you don’t have to actually build things yourself. They are like patterns and they remember what has been built and as long as you have enough materials or are standing near wheels, balloons etc it just builds them automatically. I don’t like building in games either but I am enjoying it in this.

Think I bought a Switch 1->2 upgrade for Zelda TOTK, and then subscribed to NSO + Expansion Pass. Pretty sure the upgrade comes with the pass - doh. Just a word of warning for anyone doing the same and wanting to save a tenner.
NSO+expansion does come with it. It’s not automatically applied like some games. If you have BOTW then you should see an option to add it from the store.

I wonder how much the screen was the reason why Nintendo didn't put the hardware into the hands of reviewers prior to launch? I'm sure they knew it would be slated.

Switch 2 is for casual gamers who aren’t fussed about the screen. They care more about gameplay
I'm not a casual and I'm loving my Switch 2.

I'll be honest, if Digital Foundry etc. hadn't flagged issues with the screen I wouldn't have noticed, and even looking for it I haven't seen any ghosting.

Don't get me wrong, I'd have preferred an OLED screen but this is typical Nintendo at this point. An improved version will be released in 2 to 3 years, and being the sucker I am I'll probably buy that too.

I feel casual gamers care a bit less about everything, as long as it's 'fun' or has a hook/gimmick that works.

Traditional/competitive (or 'hardcore') gamers care about everything generally but more towards gameplay.

The other end of casual gamers are those that enjoy it for the spectacle, the cinematics or the realism/sims, they care a bit less about gamplay - as long as it plays well enough.

I think Nintendo/Switch gamers fall heavily into both the first and second categories, where other consoles are a more evenly spread, and PC the latter two.

How is everyone doing in terms of storage? I've used about 110GBs so far but most of my games are physical Switch 1 games so it is just the patch data that needs storing.

Clearly the majority don't care as it's the fastest selling console now lol. People get too frenzied in echo chambers like Reddit and think something is a big issue, then you get the NPCtubers stirring it up in desperation for views. So easy to ignore the drama whilst still acknowledging there is a potential issue, the magnitude will vary by person.

Picked up the Switch 2 Pro Controller, disappointed if I'm honest as not as comfortable as the original Pro Controller in my opinion.

It's slightly smaller, not by much but there is something about the angle or size of the grips which just makes it not feel as nice as the original.

The GL and GR buttons are handy, not usually bothered by paddles but I'd seen someone talk about how it makes Tears and Breath easier to run and jump as you don't need to lift off of one button to press the other like with B and X.

Will have a bit more of a play before deciding but likely Amazon will be getting this back. If it was £40ish I'd probably keep it for my daughter but at £75 I'll probably wait and see what other controllers come out in the next few months.

Pro controller 1 is great but it’s a pain you cannot turn it on by it.

Loving my Switch 2 at the moment. Whilst it is frustrating that there aren't more Switch 2 games available, the Switch 2 has enabled me to play a lot of my Switch 1 games that I couldn't get through because of terrible frame rate and other issues.

It's going to help me clear a lot of my back log, ready for when we get some true Switch 2 games.

I leave the controller next to the dock so it's not the end of the world for me to press the button but it is annoying that Nintendo would do this.

I presume in time other manufacturers like 8bitdo will have controllers which turn it on. I assume Nintendo patented some obscure technology and made it so third parties will have to pay them to license it.

I don't touch physical media, so every game I've bought on the previous Switch is digital only. I'm using 319GB currently with 17GB left on my 256GB Micro SD Card and 113GB free on the internal storage, and I could still do with another few hundred gigabytes to have my entire library on me. Plus, any future Switch 2 patches are going to take up even more space, so I like to have plenty available. 1TB is what I had in my old Switch, but it's still really annoying trying to get a 1TB or even a 512GB express card. No excuse not to massively ramp up production of these cards considering they still work in regular Micro SD Card readers so they will sell, just at the slower speeds. It's about time these cards became the norm going forward.

I'm waiting to get a 512GB microSD Express card. I feel like 256GB is just too small especially as the Switch 2 is going to last well past 5 years. Been looking around but haven't found any for sale yet.

Edit: Hmm, there is a 512GB card for £159. Pretty expensive.
