This Instant And Moment - 2025!

Interesting experience with a hole saw, spring loaded rather than regular one where you unscrew the base to clear it. Dunno if it was because of the relatively long depth to narrow hole size or the mixed materials but it didn't clear when it exit the other side and when I released it with a screw driver it shot the plug out across the room like a shotgun slug with enough force to leave a mark on the wall it hit! good thing I wasn't point it at my face :s

I remember, decades ago, being unreasonably pleased by the modest text-to-speech capabilities of our BBC.

Today I added a thing to my build scripts (which can take 15-20 minutes to complete) so that it says "build complete" when its done.

Turns out I'm still unreasonably pleased by text-to-speech

Shame there isn't an offline version of ElevenLabs, at least not without enterprise licensing, there are free/cheap APIs but in my experience not in the same league as EL.

Did you have a soundblaster card with the talking parrot?

I feel like the actual rubbishness of the built-in Windows text-to-speech is part of its charm. Good text to speech wouldn't be funny when it, e.g, fails to pronounce my wife's name correctly.

Yesterday I did this. That's cheddar gorge. It was amazing. Might do some lessons and learn to do it myself.

@413x looks amazing and totally out of my comfort zone , I mean i don't think I will ever.fly again (80s last time)
Off work today , I opened a box with scissors and noticed a red pool forming around my feet. I had punctured a leg vein ( mop and bucket job) , sealant on at minor injuries and a rest day , a bit scared of bleeding out again tbh

Gees. Hope you're OK!

When he let me fly for 15 mins it was a weird feeling. If you let go the microlight mostly stays where it is. But we were in some turbulence and it takes a lot of fighting your instincts to let go of the wing controls when the thing is bouncing up and down!
Then sometimes the turbulence snatches it and it starts to turn away and you have to correct it.

I'm usually pretty calm and I was but when the turbulence snatched it a bit, yes I did tense up!

@moon man: That sounds really scary, hope you're doing okay.

Never been in a microlight, but I've flown a glider and a Cessna. Great fun. Expensive hobby though!

Makes me laugh when I hear incredibly rich people at work who spend sickening amounts of money on things, complain about society/the unemployed/the benefit system etc.

I just want to go up and shake them and yell "You're the ******* problem"

One of the mums from the school casually mentioned my daughter (11) broke her son's finger playing football on Monday.

I can't believe my daughter hadn't told us about that!

My son is unwell with another chest infection. My wife had the usual 'you need to use the e-consult system' from the receptionist but thankfully one of the other staff members jumped in and said not for this patient. Can't fault our G.P, he rang just as my wife got back in (two minute walk from surgery) and said he will be round in five minutes, which he was.

Agreed a plan for antibiotics, with escalation to hospital if things don't improve within 48 hours and we had the prescription details by text a few minutes after he left. Hopefully they will do the job this time and we have caught it early.

Just to round of the day, the dishwasher completely died mid cycle during the night. It was cheap on sale just over five years ago when out previous one gave up. It was £200, the equivalent now is £299 but paid £380 for a better energy rated one for delivery tomorrow. Would be stuffed without 0% credit cards to bounce between.

2 nutters in Europe in one day.

4 hacked with an axe in germany, 7 stabbed in finland.

it's like an every day occurrence now and no one seems to really care.

I don't mean it's migrants, it probably won't be. but something is clearly broken somewhere

Probably Putin's Proud Boi related..

Had a bike ride today to test out my DIY eBike, want to test how far the Makita type battery pack will go and end up with 16 miles on the first run. No idea what is the safe low voltage cut out should be so I just go easy and stop at 36.5V

What a brilliant day to go out for a ride, not too hot like the last few weeks.
