What have you done to your car today?

A35 runs much better with the plug leads the right way round as it turns out. Explains why it was a pain to start! :D

Ran a couple of wires, one for the temperature sensor to the gauge, and one for the RPM signal to the tach. Also transferred the shape for the gauge brackets onto metal, just need to cut it out.

Also need to run the little oil pressure gauge pipe. Feels weird to me, piping pressurised oil into the cabin. I'm sure those little tubes must fail very occasionally and spray the driver with oil right? :p

I also have all the parts to button the E30 back up, I just need a bit of motivation because it feels like a mammoth task to put that back together... :o

Sold the little Suzuki Carry Turbo today. With the Impreza here and the Lupo on the way, this was surplus. Cute little thing though

While there, fitted new mats to the Impreza and left a new stereo to be fitted. We also worked out that it has a rear central fog light, so that's one more thing off the list.

Got an OBD2 scanner that my project car actually talks to and...

So there's a number of reasons this can happen in my car but I figured I'd start at the beginning: fuel tank is almost empty and what's in there was put in 2 years ago.

Waited for the evening to cool down and wandered up to the petrol station for 5L of premium. Glug glug glug, cleared the codes and fired her up. No MIL light!

Issue sorted? Will find out tomorrow when I take it for a spin.

Got a badger last night in the Qashqai :( just ran out from the verge no time to avoid it - fortunately I don't think it has done anything more than mess up with lower front air spoiler/diffuser though that is still a pain, doubt it did the suspension much good though as both left wheels went over it. One of the reasons I prefer driving the pickup as unless you hit a deer even badgers go under the wheels without messing things up.

Way too hot today though - even pushing the air spoiler temporarily back into place (will need replacing) had me sweating buckets.

Took the car around the block a couple of times and the light stayed out!

The SRS warning light came on but that's an intermittent connection under the seats. Cleaned the plugs with isopropyl and wiggled them a bit, light back out again. I've got contact cleaner on order and I'll probably replace the plugs sometime.

MOT retest tomorrow morning.

Saw something along those lines a couple of days ago on the road, cool little things but I couldn't drive around in one generally I'd just feel too exposed, but if I had a big estate or something I'd definitely get something like that.

Yeah, it would have been heading Glasgow to Birmingham on Sunday.

I don't disagree, something so cool about them but you won't last in any accident

Is that a 4wd one?

Fixed the rear brakes, got the gauges wired up (oil pressure gauge isn't hooked up yet), went for a test drive!

I give it some stick at 8 minutes in... :p

All that needs doing now is the front tracking, and fixing the temperamental brake light wiring.

Love it.
Proper mechanical interaction, proper noises from the box & engine, and utilising the skill to get the best from the vehicle.
Motoring nirvana.
Or one could buy an air frier on wheels and miss the pleasure of "actually" driving.
Cue comments from the usual midwit who'll tell me I'm completely wrong (yawn).

Couple of fun timestamps, at 13:42 there is a wild peacock, which almost runs out in front of me but stops and then shouts at me instead.

At 10:45 a spider walks past the camera. :p
