A35 runs much better with the plug leads the right way round as it turns out. Explains why it was a pain to start! 
Ran a couple of wires, one for the temperature sensor to the gauge, and one for the RPM signal to the tach. Also transferred the shape for the gauge brackets onto metal, just need to cut it out.
Also need to run the little oil pressure gauge pipe. Feels weird to me, piping pressurised oil into the cabin. I'm sure those little tubes must fail very occasionally and spray the driver with oil right?
I also have all the parts to button the E30 back up, I just need a bit of motivation because it feels like a mammoth task to put that back together...
