Its so strange.
It must be the car surely? 3 drivers all doing better in the junior team than RBR.

In some ways I hope max leaves because maybe he's even more amazing than we think?

Let's say Russell goes to RBR with someone else and both cars are at the back?

It would also be good to see if verstappen can beat someone we know is good. Or if the RBR really is set up just for him.

One of my frustrations with f1 is it's so hard to benchmark drivers. It's rare to get a situation with 2 good drivers in same team as that's only way yo really work Out who's good.

It's very bizarre, and I don't think I've ever seen such a gulf between drivers in a team before.

Certainly not where one of them can get pole and a podium, or even win, whilst the other finishes close to last in qualy and in the race ( or at best struggles to get into the points).

I would really like to see Max at. Different team alongside a driver we know is pretty good.

The reality is that none of Maxs teammates at RB have ever had a significantly successful record, either in feeder series or in f1.

It is. Even if the RBR is a dog and the junior team have a better car, that's saying verstappen is on another level.

I find it hard to believe verstappen has a driving style so unique no one else can get by?

At this rate.. Would anyone want to go to RBR? I certainly wouldn't!

It would have been interesting if Sainz had joined RBR after doing well at Ferrari, to see how he stacked up. Although, given that Albon is outperforming him at Williams we can probably guess. (I know Albon has matured a bit as a driver since his time at RBR too.)

Would be interested to see Max at Mercedes TBH.

Edit: George doesn't think he's going anywhere

Ricciardo and Gasly have pretty decent records. DR did solidly against Max although he clearly saw the writing on the wall, bailed out, and then his career went to the dogs from there. Gasly had a good record in junior, and has achieved good results in mediocre machinery. Both have shown promise but not proven themselves to be worth counting among the top tier of drivers. Of the rest: Albon I think is quality, I've been really impressed since his move to Williams and his showing against Sainz in particular, but probably not up to Norris' level. Checo is a solid midfielder, reliable and good at making the alternative strategy work but nothing more than that. Lawson was dreadfully underprepared and Yuki? I always thought Yuki had unfulfilled promise but you're right he's never really proven his merits.

It's not exactly the cream of the crop is it?

It looks like one of those how many media people does it take to ask a question? 51, one to ask it and 50 to repeat it.
I would expect the team to do a better job of controlling that, but maybe he signed for Merc a long time ago and the team don’t care.

Yeah Gasly won gp2 I believe but his main opposition was Geovinazi who is fast but erratic.

I’ve never particularly rated Albion but he is doing a very good job at the moment. Yuki and Lawson were only ever sporadic in f2, Sainz is a difficult one because he ended up matching Leclerc.

I'm in the UK this week, so was wondering what is the easiest/cheapest way to watch the British GP on Sunday, legit? I use a nefarious method in Spain, I think it would work here, but I don't really want my Parents to get a nasty email from their UK ISP after I leave next week :p

Do Sky or NowTV have anyway to sub just for 1 day/week/month for 1 event? Are those the only 2 options these days?

It's on channel 4 live! :p

Thank you! I didn't realise seeing it for free in the UK is even a thing anymore!

Its the only race Channel 4 show live throughout the year.

I think the British Grand Prix has been added to the important sport list (or something like that) that has to be shown on free to air. Much like the Euros, World Cup, Rugby World Cup, Wimbledon and the Olympics.

Back in the day they were called "listed" events I think? Basically even if another company/channel has them, a simulcast is given to one of the terrestrial channels so people can do their patriotic cheering on the brits for free :)

It'l be a bit weird not hearing the Sky commentators and their buildup, but it's only for 1 GP, and it's free!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ofcom_Code_on_Sports_and_Other_Listed_and_Designated_Events. <---wiki article, it doesn't mention F1, but I doubt many people care enough about these things to update the wikipedia entry!
