We will happily let a terrorist outfit remove a very expensive plane from service with a repair cost of £15-25M because we don't want to spend £1m-£10m on overhauling base security to stop this happening, gotcha..
Having lots of mates in the armed forces and civil service, the next thing that is obvious is the perimeter guards will need to be on a 3 day remote working pattern with a day off for 'planning' , I'm sure the HR specialist base commander has already got the safe spaces prepared, 5 counsellors per headcount and an extra 20 duvet days added to the already generous allowance because of some hurty words on X/Facebook.
As ridiculous as I tried to make that sound, from conversations I've had it's not a million miles from reality either..![]()
I was going for 'ridiculous' but having listened to all the complaints from either active duty RAF members, or ex-RAF now civil servants working on the bases over the weekend, aside from the drastic underfunding, the next thing is general HR policies and working practices and the completely insane lack of efficiency throughout the services now..The fact that the current station commander is from the administrative branch has nothing to do with anything in this situation.
You probably know how bad the underfunding is, but I was listening to people moan about it for a good 2-3 hours.. sounds ridiculous that what little money they do have is wasted on gross inefficiencies.. they didn't mention or care about any rainbow crossings, but they did say the increase of 'duvet days' and their 4 day week (the day off for planning is common now amongst a lot of civil service admin roles) was insane, even if they benefit from it..They don’t have the finances for increased security they spent the budget painting all the crossings rainbow colours.
There'll never be another war or one like this.... probably been said after most wars.Well, if history teaches us anything, it's this. We're never prepared for the next war when it comes.

Taxation will be out downfall, broken system , global corporations even get reverse tax where we subsidise them to stay in the country. we literally bribe them to create jobs in the country.....
how do you expect to fund an army?
Wars are financed with debt not taxes. Look at history, debt to gdp goes up vertically during wartime. There'll never be another war or one like this.... probably been said after most wars.

how many on working tax credits ? that;'s subsidising wages of big business who make billions a year
how many getting partial housiong benefit or UC top ups?
that's communism not capitalism, why is there a social state for the global corporations of the world?
why we pay companies like nissan billions in tax incentives to stay in sunderland and then they sack people and prtobably never paid a penny in tax anyway.
why is all the tax burden seemingly on workers in this country?
well our whole economy seems to be fuelled by debt, so that would be interesting if we ever have another big war.Wars are financed with debt not taxes. Look at history, debt to gdp goes up vertically during wartime.
It's fine as long as of the **** does hit the fan the likes of Amazon are making rifles fir us delivered next day, for free.
Though a hugely contentious issue, in my opinion we should seriously keep in mind as world events develop over the next few years that re-arming the population or provisions for such may be a wise precautionary measure. I think people vastly underestimate the geopolitical changes happening and how quickly they could impact on the Western way of life depending on the direction things may or may not take with a real potential in there even if not the most likely outcome.

It went in the engines, and that's that.Maybe I have missed something - but how does clearing up some paint splashes cost £7M !!
There was a thread here not that long ago asking if people would fight for their country, and most people said 'no' so we'd probably just surrender.Oh yea I agree.
It's scary how useless most people are getting. Be sitting there in a trench wondering why their just eat app isn't working.
Not that this is acceptable, but do wonder how much Stop Oil cost a lot of peopleMaybe I have missed something - but how does clearing up some paint splashes cost £7M !!
