When the last time you went swimming

Last time I went swimming was a couple of years ago on my underwater helicopter escape training.
Did you do the full sequence ending with starting upside down in the dark? That wasn’t fun, especially as another trainee panicked and froze in the exit door. He complained to the instructors about my hoofing him out of the way and shoving him towards the surface. Instructors told him in no uncertain terms that had that been real, my actions would have just saved his life. They also rather gleefully informed him he needed to join the others that had failed the drill and needed to repeat it.

Florida 2001. I did the Stingray Shuffle and crapped myself when a Stingray came up from the sand next to me. This was before we knew they liked to kill Australian TV personalities as well.

First time I did it donkey years ago was in low light in the environmental pool, but it's been dumbed right down on the UKOOA cert over the last 20 years to a slow dunk and capsize in a nice warmish pool. They've only recently re-introduced having to get the windows off upside down after the Shetland crash where folk apparently didn't know how to remove the windows.

Returned from Center Parcs, Woburn on Friday with the family. I've not been in a pool since I was a teen. Went to the sub-tropical pool on Tuesday and spent about 2hrs having a laugh with family over there and all was good. Next morning my legs and chest have a red rash, which was itchy. Still got it as I type but it is slowly going away. Guess I had a reaction to the chemicals used there.

Why do you want to know?

15 years ago? I signed up for a swimming membership for a month to go before work. A really old lady overtook me in the next lane and I decided swimming wasn't for me.

About a month ago, I travel a lot for work and try and pick hotels with pools. There's quite a few in Bristol but CBA with the booking hassle.

I've given up on giving Finneus Chompy a go - not so keen on sharks as gotten older.

2 years ago on holiday.

Had planned on taking it back up and going to the local pool after watching a few episodes of Bondi Rescue but I’m tight.. I’d need to cancel the current gym membership, take up the pool membership(which has a gym), it was more expensive and it didn’t open until 7am so ended up giving up on the notion, too much thinking involved.

Maybe this thread will give me the push.

Not really proper swimming, but got one of those 3m round pools set up in the garden for the kids as it's been so hot recently, so... Last night about 11pm :p

Before that, probably the start of September in the sea a couple of miles north of Tywyn.

I really should do it more regularly, but it's just finding the time
