The last game you completed, and rating.

I bought Metro 2033 Redux/Last Light Redux, for very cheap awhile ago, and it seemed very dull/slow/simple compared to say STALKER or anything else, and very closed in areas?
Do I need to give it another go and just wait very patiently till something good happens/areas increase in size, or is this just how it is?

It is small areas...I prefer the tunnel sections to be honest...not worried about exploration....

Ah, maybe it's not for me then. I am right in thinking that it's made by the original STALKER team? So I was expecting a vast open world similar game, that's my bad I guess

Is it worth going through the first two just to experience it? Or can it be played on it's own blind - is it a seperate story?

It's related to the other two and probably better if you know more of the story but I still enjoyed it. You get filled in a lot by just listening to npcs discussing the past and stuff

Hmm, I'll probably leave it then haha.

Starship Troppers: Terran Command (with the DLCs) - 7/10

While I prefer my RTS games more traditional with proper base building, Terran Command is still a good time. Gets the vibe right for a Starship Troopers game and there is enough unit variety and interesting missions / story that kept me playing for 35 hours and 100% completion (no small feat these days). Both DLCs are good as well with Urban Onslaught being the best by some margin. Recommended for fans of the film and those who enjoy more modern RTS style games.

If you don't like them probably not, the story you can get playing Exodus first, as I did. Exodus is open worldish pretty much
I am right in saying it was the original devs from STALKER, who started a new company? Right?

Yea half of the STALKER team made their own company that made Metro. At least a couple of them died defending Ukraine against Russia
Thought so, I thought STALKER 2 was very underwhelming, especially the last 4 or so hours of padded out excessive long distance walking pretty much round in circles, then the endings, meh. We got majorly conned with A-Life.

F.E.A.R. Extraction Point.

A fairly solid follow-up to the main game, though quite a bit shorter.

I thought the last interval or so was a bit weaker than the rest, and although I don't generally rate games/movies with a score,
I'd probably consider this at around the 7-7.5/10 mark.

I'd love to see the original remastered with path tracing thrown in, and we may well see that one day.

All 3 games are amazing, and were mind blowing on release! 2 Is probably my favourite, but the original still holds up! I don't personally mind 3 at all - many people disliked it, but it was cool to get to play both sides and it still had a lot of what we loved, despite feeling rather different yet still the same in places.

Incredible game.

I was very skeptical as I'm not really one for turn based games in general, but I kept hearing so much positivity about the game and seeing as I have GamePass I gave it a go.

Very glad I did. One of the most memorable and magical games I've ever played. It's a seriously class act that just oozes charm and the passion that's gone into it is plainly obvious.

It's also restored my faith in Unreal Engine 5 as the game is not only absolutely stunning and a clear step above titles on older engines, it actually runs really well too.

Just a beautiful looking and sounding game with one of the most original and diverse soundtracks of any game I've played. The main theme is also very memorable and fits the mood of the game perfectly.

The story is also amazing and would make an amazing movie. I'm not very good at following the plot in games for some reason so I admit I had to read up on certain things as I was playing because I wanted to fully comprehend the story but it is amazing and well worth getting fully invested in.

Shockingly, this is the developer's first game and so-called triple A studios should be embarrassed, they need to do better. The game is a real eye opener for what we should be expecting when we buy/play games these days.

My only very tiny complaints are:

1. un-pausable cut scenes - I'm a very busy person and not being able to pause in poignant cut scenes (which is basically all of them) is really frustrating.
2. difficulty spike on the very last boss - I get that it's the last boss and it should be more difficult than everything else but IMO most games including this one seem to want to take it a step too far and make the last boss unnecessarily frustrating to beat - I am not ashamed to admit that I put the difficulty down to Story mode just to finish the game as I had already got him down to a sliver of health only to die and have to start all over again. Nope, my time is precious.

These are nitpicks though, the game is amazing. Play it or you're missing out.

Came to Cyberpunk 2077 very late so my first experience was with it fully patched and with PL.

10/10 - still playing. Will continue to play especially as patch 2.3 is round the corner.

Planet of Lana

I really enjoyed this. The puzzles were largely pretty simple, but that made a nice change as it was really chilled gaming. Great atmosphere.

Superb. Very rare I sit down and play a game for more than an hour at a time these days but this and it's predecessor had me hooked for multi-hour sessions.
They're perfection!
