LG has announced 4th gen WOLED monitor panels are entering full production and new monitors will be coming later in the year.

New features of 4th gen includes:

* 540hz refresh rates for 1440p panels and a special 720hz mode at 1080p resolution.
* Primary Tandem Panel technology achieving higher color saturation than gen 3
* 1500 nits Brightness

Can we please get screens bigger than 32" for 4k, for those of us with aging eyes that can't deal with super high pixel densities (4k TVs don't have good high-refresh support or DP) :cry:

I wonder what impact these new panels will have on the market, will the OLED space get even more competitive on products and pricing?

I honestly think it's all a bit overblown. If you're coming from an IPS panel, any OLED monitor is glorious. I doubt anyone would be able to tell the difference unless they were side by side or you were a true monitor geek (maybe raised black levels aside on QD-OLED panels). I have the AW3225QF (4K QD-OLED panel) and use it in a pretty bright room on 50% brightness (when HDR isn't enabled) and it is plenty bright enough.

My advice to anyone is to not overthink the decision. You can get some cracking deals on QD-OLED 4K monitors for example. As low as £650-700.

There is currently OLED monitors on sale for $400 in the US. OLED TV prices are high but monitors are now dirt cheap

Yeah I tried HDR on my LG for the first time and felt like my eyes were burning up.

For TVs in a living room it's a bit different but for PC monitor usage I've never needed to get anywhere near high brightness.
 
I still have 60hz monitors, the thought of 540hz seems utterly astonishing.
