Codex Alara is pretty good, very different to Dresden Files but enjoyable
Finished up The Great Hunt yesterday much quicker than I thought I would (10 days). Now making my way through Book 3 (The Dragon Reborn)
Just finished Book 3 yesterday. Still quite liking it albeit I thought book 2 was a little better for me. Started book 4 yesterday as well.... Seems considerably longer so be good to see if this affects the story pacing etc.
Yeah enjoying it so far.
Funnily enough, i gave up on Dresden Files after a couple of books, just couldn't get into it. I must give them another go as i know they are highly rated.

I know quite a few people that have struggled with the early ones, it does get a lot better but I imagine you've heard that

Its been quite a few years since i tried them and since then i have read a lot more fantasy, so hopefully i can enjoy them this time around.
Still reading through this. It's overlong, pretentious rubbish. The premise is actually quite interesting, but everything else is a struggle. I've still got over half the book to read and it's only because I'm a stickler for 'I've started so I'll finish' that I'm still going. This cover is cool though.
Whereas this is infinitely more enjoyable. I really enjoy the world of Bosch.
Life is too short with many more good books available, bin it and move on.

Agree with Bosch, one of my favourites in the crime genre.

I just finished Options, by Robert Sheckley.
It was absolutely terrible. I would not have finished it, but it was 150 pages, so ploughed on.
Sheckley is normally pretty good, so this was a big disappointment.

Another decent read... The ending was less climactic than previous books and gave a more build up to what is likely to come.
Still disappointed certain "things" didnt appear in the final Emonds Field fracas, especially considering who was there
(spoiler next in case people want to know what I mean)No Wolves coming in and helping at Emonds Field with Perrin there
Started book 5 a couple of days ago. Getting a bit more complex but that is to be expected as the characters all start fleshing out.

If this is your first read through I promise you that some plot lines in the middle will drag and even annoy the hell out of you. Stick with it because even the books that drag the most have some extremely satisfying payoffs.
I got as far as half way through Book 9 when they first came out decades ago (still got the 1st print hard cover of Winter's Heart in the cupboard (just checked and it was 2000 when I got it). I just never got around to finishing it due to real life and then fell away from books at that point and sold all my books

I just finished Flashman On The March, by George McDonald -Fraser. It's set in the Abyssinian campaign of 1868 and it's a fairly obscure but interesting campaign.
It's a typical Flashman book- funny, well-written and impeccably researched. Very enjoyable, it was!

Halfway through Election by Tom Perrotta. I had no idea he wrote this seeing as The Leftovers is one my favorites TV shows of all time. Election, the movie, is a classic for the ages and I'm enjoying how closely they adapter it from the book. Funny and vicious.

I just finished The Last Wish, by Andrzej Sapkowsi. It's the novel the Witcher games were based on.
It's a very good read- highly recommended!
