The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

Using Brave based on chrome….to block YouTube ads….will there be a fix..
You could try Edge. :) I use it and it really is a good browser with a lot of inbuilt security settings. Can use extensions if you like as well. And it is quick. I don't think I've come across any problems with sites etc. And CoPilot built in is really useful, I find I'm using it quite a bit. But anywho, yeah I'd image their will be a fix, it is noted in the known issues section so usually they do work through things listed in it with every new release. :)

I'm 2 our of 2 for bad coil whine on sapphire pulse. Sent the first back and the replacement is the same maybe slightly better. Still the worse I've ever had.

Both mine were like your cousins.
I went over today to help him troubleshoot. IMHO either he was exaggerating or my older ears can't hear as much, today it was less aggregious than what I started at on my 9070XT. Though he did mention running Heaven on loop the other day and it's reduced today compared to then, perhaps 'breaking it in' has reduced it. It depends on the game but some cases it was not really noticeable for me while others it was obvious on occasions, like Far Cry 5 running at over 200fps. We ended up doing all the fixes, cap, undervolt, etc and considering game sounds and such, he's now happy that he can't hear it to bother him.

I'm glad we got that sorted.

I do recall I had terrible coil whine in the loading screen on Heaven on older GPUs, but it seems par for the course on pricey GPUs nowadays. Perhaps it depends on things like electricity in the home, PSU combinations, etc. Coil whine is just one of those big mysteries that at least for now, I don't have to worry about much.

No coil wine on mine either (with a Corsair RM850x). From my experience coil wine is most often down to the PSU or too high (unlimited) frame rates (>200) in games.
There’s no such thing as too high frame rates.

Having a weird issue with my 9070XT Steel Legend and Discord. I assume it's driver related but I use Discord Dark Mode and semi-regularly my whole App screen will go blank. Buttons seem to work OK if I can find them and if I minimise it by finding the correct button and then maximise it it's fine, until it happens again. It's not every time, but probably 1-2 times a week and I use my PC every evening more or less. Anyone had similar?

In Discord, disable hardware acceleration. Same thing happened to me on both a 5070 and 9070XT system, seems Discord related rather than specific to any component.

Just done this, wills ee what happens. Apparently it will 'degrade system performance'. I have a 16 core processor, will I even notice?

You shouldn't notice - although if you do have issues immediately at least you'll know the cause!

I've had mine disabled for a while now (2+ months?) and not noticed any issues on either system. 8 core cpu in one build, 20 core (8+12) in the other.

The Sapphire Pulse for £559 is an absolute bargain. Makes the 5070 Ti seem like a very poor choice, even if it were £650.
Decent, no frills model with excellent cooling, better build, and much less noise than the usual MSRP models.

I parted with £40 more to get the Pure over Pulse as I wanted slightly better fans and a little bit of RGB. Either way, both great deal currently compared to other offerings!

I believe they have the exact same PCB design and have the same heatsink and fan design also.
The Nitro has a different heatsink and PCB design but same fans too.
Fans are exactly the same between the Pure & the Pulse, just in a different color. You can even swap them between the Pure and Pulse if you wanted!

Talking about the pulse, what is everyone's memory temperatures? The gamers nexus review said they were 90c?

Did and/sapphire update the drivers?

Thanks very much for the replies I ordered the Pulse

I am going to risk it on my 550w PSU with the expectation I'll have to swap it for a RM850x but thought I'd at least give it a go undervolted

As in the most intensive games/benchmarks the total draw on current system (7800x3d, 64gb RAM and 3060ti) is 330w of which 200w is the GPU

Current PSU is a RM550x

I think it will work fine without undervolting, but it is right on the limit.
