Is it possible to have a ATXV12VO on a pre built PC, have an additional regular PSU to power a higher power GPU? Use the ATXV12VO for the CPU/motherboard etc.

I've seen the 24 pin ATX dual PSU thing but wondering if something exists for those with ATXV12VO PSU's. Stock PSU is only 500W so getting a >300W GPU on this is not recommended.

Yeah, you can do it, though dubious if worthwhile since most of these kind of prebuilds aren't ideal as gaming PCs anyway.

Pretty sure you can get adapters to completely replace the existing PSU

I just searched ATXV12VO and then brand e.g
Acer on your favourite auction site

cheers, however with that ATXV012 to 24 pin, the issue is he would still need the ATXV012 PSU for the stock motherboard.

So the stock PSU for the CPU and motherboard, with new PSU for the GPU alone

It's had a few upgrades so now it's not that bad. More memory, upgraded case and heatsink.

Granted BIOS options are limited, doesn't support XMP, no OC/UV options etc..but it'll do for him for a few years.
