Hi guys,

I asked this question a little while ago to gather feedback and ideas but I wasn't ready to purchase. Anyhow, I'm ready to buy a new PC this upcoming payday and would like some build ideas.

I'm currently using a 2080 Ti and an i9-9900k and they're showing their age now. My current PC is watercooled but it was an affordable option at the time.

I am looking for a PC that is mostly quiet which can last a good 6 years without upgrades.

The PC is mostly for gaming at 1440p. 4k would be nice but I play a lot of heavily modded games such as Skyrim and Cyberpunk which can really lower performance.

I've read some bad things about AIO longevity compared to air coolers.

I think 5080 is the next best GPU after 5090.

I'm currently looking at this prebuilt by OCUK:

My budget is £3,000 maximum.

Nothing wrong with a 9800X3D and a 5080, would be great for 1440p and good for 4K.

You could step down to a 5070 Ti if you wanted (about 15% between them) and still get decent performance. 9070 XT is worth thinking about if you're comfortable with AMD GPU.

A 5070 can do 4K (especially with upscaling), but not what I'd like to recommend, especially with the 12GB of VRAM.

OP says they play heavily modded Cyberpunk, that for me would rule out the 9070XT as Cyberpunk puts AMD cards at a disadvantage being pretty much Nvidia's tech demo.

I've decided to go for a microATX setup after some playing around with different setups and a bit of theory crafting because I don't need a lot of expansion or USB slots. I don't use any accessories other than a mouse and keyboard, and I only need one decent sized NVMe SSD.

I am looking at a Corsair build at the moment for functionality between parts. However, I am unsure about which motherboard to use.

My use case remains the same but I am now considering a 5080 Founders Edition for its minimal size.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,486.72 (includes delivery: £11.98)

I've heard some good things about the MSI MAG B850M MORTAR but I don't know when or if that board is coming to our shores.

Once you factor in the GPU you're touching upon the money it would take for a 5090 build, which would be substantially faster than a 5080 in actual use.

If aesthetics are of primary importance for you there's no harm in going the route you are, but I'd personally say that you're massively overspending needlessly in some areas.

M-ATX.

You don't need to go full Corsair, the case is actually a really nice one (I've built in one before) but is expensive for what it is.

The RGB will all sync up just fine in the build I've listed, Corsair's software suit is (imo) atrocious anyway, you're better off using a third party app such as Signal RGB.

AiO listed but again not necessary, a £30 Peerless Assassin/Phantom Spirit would be more than ample.

The X3D chips don't care about latency/ram speeds all that much, you don't need to spend £260 on a 64gb set.

You could save another £150 by switching to a 7600X3D, at 4K you wont see much difference between it and a 9800X3D in most scenarios and while slower at 1440P it's still very competent.
