The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

Hi folks,
I've had my Asrock Steel Legend 9070 XT since launch and I'm generally very happy with it. However, I'm getting driver timeouts when playing Forza Horizon 4 with my mates and it's driving me nuts!

Does anyone have a genuine cure for this? I've tried pretty well all the suggestions I've found online for this issue, which it seems has plagued AMD for years! I've got to admit that I'm beginning to regret buying AMD, never had issues like this with my previous nVidia cards.

Please help! Cheers

Have you checked...

... looks like there's some potential fixes listed there.

So i installed my Sapphire Pulse 9070 XT today and started looking up how to undervolt/overclock, got to admit this is not easy for me to understand.

I ended up trying some settings i found online and it seems to be fine. Have run Steel Nomad a few times with no problems and temps are ok with a score of 7341.

https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/137642003?

Max Freq Offset - +200 Mhz

Voltage Offset - -50mV

Memory Timing - Fast

Max Freq (Memory) - 2820

Power Limit - +10%

Try -100mV

Mate brought over his parts earlier and I’m just finishing his build for him, he’s got one of 9070XT Pulses that were available this week and GPU-Z is showing the memory as Samsung so it does look like this ‘batch’ are all the same.

Had a minor wobble after adding negative offset on frequenxy rather than voltage earlier but could have been game (Oblivion remastered) had triangular artefacts. Tried FS2024, KCD 2, and Steel Nomad benchmark with no issues

Ran the 20 loop of Steel Nomad -80mv and small overclock on memory and reported GPU temp was 60c (didn't look at hotspot temp), and PSU only felt minor warm to touch

Score was 7100 odd

Can't hear any coil whine yet even with ear to side of case

Yep I'm finding the same. Super quiet, and no issues at all with running on the RM550 PSU. Temps and fan noise are non existant compared to my old 2070s. Very happy so far.

Also finding the AMD software lightyears ahead of Nvidias.

Oh, and I can now finally run at 144hz at 4k with HDMI 2.1, holy moly it's glorious.

Unless it’s just BO6 the max my Red Devil can do is -40mv everything else is stable. Nevertheless at this voltage + -30% power limit it sits at 230w and can boost from 2.75ghz -3.05ghz depending on the game.doesn’t exceed 30% fan speed when gaming for hours and tops low 60s and mid 70s hot spot with max Mem temp 80 degrees

So I got a Pulse 9070 yesterday, some stuttering in DayZ but been tweaking stuff and its slowly getting better..jury still out on that one :)

A few quick benches, only using -40 UV and maxed the power limit atm..

EDIT.. Samsung Memory, just about hit 70c running Timespy :)

A little longer (45mm longer) than my old trusty 3060 Ti but at least it fits in my Corsair 400C case with the 240mm radiator at the front :p

Amazed at the temps for 15% fan speed, seeing 48c - 52c in DayZ maxed out settings.. the 3060 Ti was in the mid 60's with lower game settings, really nice cooler on these especially in this weather!

@CAT-THE-FIFTH 3060 Ti finally retired! :D Sapphire Pulse 9070 - 08/07/2025

Overall good results + I was also worried undervolting my 9070xt and Power Draw at -30% would bring it to 9070 performance whilst costing me £590 but good to see my 9070xt is approx 15% faster at 230 watts - I bet that must be a massive upgrade from the 3060 Ti? :)

About double the perf of the 3060 Ti from what I can see, did another Timespy bench with -80 UV and Memory at 2700 which literally doubles the Ti score :)

I only play DayZ but saw the core clock boost to just over 3200MHz a few times playing that game, never thought I'd see that on this card.

I still get some stuttering in DayZ too but Im trying different tweaks to minimise it, was hoping brute force would eliminate DayZ stuttering :(

And what is with some settings not saving in the driver software, Power slider and Fan controls usually reset after a reboot, gone back to MSI Afterburner for fan control.

So i am back to stock settings on my 9070 XT.

After all the benchmarking and a gaming session last night, i thought it was stable. (was only Talos Principle 2, so not a demanding game)

Just browsing the web this morning and system restarted. Went to check Adrenaline and it has reset itself to stock settings.

My Corsair SF 750w PSU should be enough, shouldn't it? I never had a problem with my 3080 FE.

My 9070xt pulse arrived, I only played one round of counter strike 2 and pub. The card is super silent and has really good temperatures, it ran fine on my 650w PSU.
I need will do some more tests and maybe a under volt ? What's a good program to benchmark? So I can test my PSU and under volt.

OK After playing about with it more this morning (yeah I was up early like a kid at Christmas ) I've dialled in the settings I'm happy with.

-80mv stable
-20% Power limit

Gives me roughly the same performance as stock settings @ 240W power draw. Very happy with that. Gets about 6720 in Steel nomad.

Also I've have figured out Optiscalar, so I can inject FSR 3/4 into DCS, via its DLSS settings. Flying in DCS is as smooth as butter, (w/ Freesync on, Vsync off, and Frames limited to 144). Using VRR was new to me, but I've been itching to try it and 144hz since I got my 42" C4.

Next is to get VR tweaked (the real reason for this upgrade), but I've family over for the weekend, so it'll have to wait.

The temperature is what surprised me the most,it sits at around 56 degrees. The 3080ti I used to have sounded like a jet engine, and hit 80 degrees within 30 seconds of starting a game at 4k

Nice :)

This will put a good load on the card.

I found the Neon Noir benchmark to be quite sensitive to undervolt, and used that to set my "everyday" GPU settings:

This usually indicates one of two things, memory overclocked too high or your undervolt is too aggressive.

Mine is a 7800 XT but i think its all the same, i came from an RTX 2070 S, i love the card, its great but the thing i found early on is that while the overclock / undervolt may appear stable for a few days it will randomly reset the system or reset the driver at some point if it isn't, just back it off a little bit from whatever you did and see if that holds.

I found the sweet spot for my card, its been running how i have it set now for about a year, its never put a foot wrong, absolutely rock solid.

Thanks, will have another go later.

Will do some more research and try to do it properly instead of just copying someone else's settings.

Quick tip, i don't know if this will have the same effect for your screen or even if you will like it but i found turning on Custom Colour and turning off Colour Temperature Control gives a more colour saturated image.

I like it, you may or may not...
