Hey peeps

Anyone else getting one of these? I've traded in my Bluesound POWERNODE with RS. My local store is getting just 4 units in early July. So I've got one with my name on it. :) I'm particularly looking forward to trying it out, especially with the multi-EQ, Smart Bass Management and Room Correction features which the POWERNODE does not have. The screen looks great, which again is something the POWERNODE doesn't have. And of course, the vibrant RGB light ring! Worth it for that alone. :p

Size wise it is near identical, just a bit deeper.

Here is the site with more info - https://www.eversolo.co.uk/product-range/p/eversolo-play

I've had the POWERNODE for just 2 and a half years now. It has its quirks. Mainly that sometimes when I power it out of sleep I get no sound lol and have to reboot via the app. Oh and the fact it can never be truly powered off (some people may like that).

I'll pop some pictures up hopefully end of next week. It'll be hooked up to my Dali Oberon 1 speakers and the REL HT1003 sub. :)

I've not had anything by this brand so excited to see how it performs.

A day late but it has arrived. Amazing.

Absolutely blows the Blusound POWERNODE away (and on paper it has less power). Interface is nice and responsive. Just setup the basics so far (room correction, sub, linked spotify, etc). The app found the device no problem at all, and it is nice how you can also mirror the units screen on to your phone as if you were touching it directly.

Everything sounds clearer and wider. Listening at the moment to mark knopfler local hero and it is just so vibrant. Sax kicks in and get goose bumps man! And earlier I had van halen ice cream man and extreme mutha playing. Guitar work coming through beautifully.

Not fiddled with any EQ or anything, I think it is running a flat curve. Only thing I did was +3db on the bass.

Have noticed one issue. Audio delay / lip sync when using my pc connected via optical. The powernode had a toggle to help with this issue and worked well. Can't find an equivalent setting on the eversolo. Was watching YouTube and it was noticeable. Slight, but once you see it then it can't be unseen lol.

Not too upset by it as it is 99% for music. But it would be a nice to have if fixed. I guess I could always email them and ask.

Why are you using optical from PC? Should be using USB, your PC's optical out is probably adding latency from the onboard soundcard's processing. You can then disable the onboard sound in the BIOS completely.

I dunno lol I just thought that was the best way to connect it being a digitally, lossless input connection. :) The usb seems to be for adding a music library like on a drive and for sending out via usb to a DAC. It has a right/left line in and also right/left phono in. Should I use one of those?

Just use USB, the connection can also be used to put music on it I guess if it has onboard storage and stuff but it is a DAC after all and you're going to get the best connection possible via USB. Windows will see it as a sound device and all audio will automatically go out via that. Set input source to USB on the Play.

Ok thanks. Will give it a whirl and report back this weekend.

The level of non-immediacy is somewhat disturbing
Aye so it doesn't work. I have a usb c to usb a cable spare. Plugged it in, went to sources and only sources available are:

Internal Player
Bluetooth
Optical In
Coaxial In
Arc In
Line In
Phono In

Output ports are:
Speaker
Coax
USB DAC

Sad times.

How bizarre that the USB ports can't be used as a DAC, although they do output to something else as a DAC it seems looking at the product page, just not act as USB input.

You do have HDMI Arc though, so could connect a HDMI cable to your GPU and get a digital audio signal that way via Arc In. Remember to set Windows to output via that connection.

I do have a spare HDMI as luck would have it, and I use DP for my monitor so my GPU thankfully has x1 HDMI slot free. Let's see what happens here.

PS really isn't the best day to be messing around under a desk with cables lol.

Hmm no sound. Tried arc and earc on the amp. Set windows to output via amd high definition audio device (which it then has my monitor name in brackets after) instead of the Realtek digital output. I'll try a reboot.

I might just use line in R L instead. No digital buffering or latency with analogue. Or I get some sort of HDMI audio splitter (if that exists?).

3.5mm to RCA cable arrived today. And... still have audio / lip sync issues when watching YouTube. In fact they seem worse than before! Music is spot on still.
