BALLARD | Prime Video | Bosch spin off

Got very high hopes for this, the books are really good and I think Maggie Q makes for a perfect Ballard

It a shame they are going to finish Bosch legacy but i think Bosch will still appear now and again in the spin off.

I watched the last Bosch: Legacy episode last night so I'm really looking forward to Ballard now
From what I can tell they're basically following the very rough timeline of the books, where it went Bosch as a detective, Bosch retired and working as a PI, and the next one seems like it's Bosch back as a detective/consultant for the police department working the cold case files (IIRC in the books he was back because there was a push to close old cases).

Oh cool! That’s a surprise. I’ll definitely watch this at some point. I hope it makes up for the incredibly lacklustre final season of Legacy.

"Lacklustre final season" ? I thought the whole thing was poor - looking forward to Bosch: Maddie though....... ;)

Watched the first 2 episodes, didn't feel it at all in the 1st episode, but got better vibes from the 2nd one. Some of my apathy for the the 1st ep might just have been getting to know the characters.

Enjoyed this, stands on it's own rather than what they did with Legacy, cameos throughout episodes but they feel natural and don't outstay their welcome i.e Bosch appears at natural points he should and doesn't linger (though Titus new hairstyle makes Bosch not look like Bosch)

Hopefully it gets another season with how it ends but it wraps up the main 'case' so it could be left as a standalone.

Maggie Q must really enjoy surfing with the amount of screentime it gets.

I've watched the first six episodes so far and I'm enjoying it although it's missing the magic that Bosch (original series) had. They seem to have messed around with the character from the books a lot, for starters she lived in a tent on the beach and was a paddle boarder rather than a surfer. She also didn't have a team of volunteers to help her - that's where Harry Bosch came in.

Finished it last night and the second half of the season is definitely stronger than the first. Now just have to wait for season two as that was quite a cliffhanger.

Oh no, shes a surfer instead of a paddle boarder...the whole thing is ruined !

I put the bit about the paddle board in as just a snippet of the character changes they made: Ballard works the night shift solo on cold cases (the only gig she could get after the accusations she made) and sleeps in a tent on the beach with her dog. When she goes paddle-boarding she takes the dog with her and the lifeguard watches her stuff, which is how they became a couple (sort of). Then it's time to pack up, take the dog to the sitter's and drive her van to work where she showers and changes before her shift. Her grandmother lives a few miles away and Ballard just visits her now and again, doesn't live with her. All fairly mundane changes but they add up and I'd just like to know why they changed it considering Michael Connelly, the author is a hands on part of the show as an executive producer.

Oh and I didn't say it was ruined, I just said it was changed - I enjoyed the show just fine.
